An ex-lawyer wanted over multiple “dine and dash” incidents, who has repeatedly failed to appear in court, has been pictured at Disneyland after apparently fleeing abroad.
Kerry Stevens, 40, has failed to appear in court on at least nine occasions and is currently the subject of four arrest warrants.
The former lawyer, who was struck off after being convicted of failing to pay £60.91 at a Harvester restaurant, is now believed to be living with a family member in the Lorraine region of France.
Stevens, previously from Southend, Essex, posted on Facebook on 18 May wearing Mickey Mouse ears and holding a bubble wand, in what appears to be Disneyland Paris.
A family friend claimed Stevens fled earlier this year after failing to appear in court, despite her family’s pleas for her to stay.
“She left, and when the police came looking for her again, her mum had to tell them she’d gone,” the friend said.
Stevens first made headlines after she was named locally for allegedly targeting restaurants and taxi firms. Images circulated online showing her wearing a legal wig and gown.
The mother-of-one was charged in 2024 with eleven counts of making off without payment and one count of theft from a shop. She denies all the offences and is due to stand trial later this year.
Stevens and her partner-in-crime, Daniel Alani, first came to police attention after a dine-and-dash incident at a pub where they allegedly fled without paying their £62.20 bill.
The couple were accused of leaving The Castle Inn in Little Wakering without paying after eating prawn cocktail, breaded mushrooms, two roast chicken dinners with extra lamb, and drinking two Cokes, an orange juice, and a medium glass of Pinot wine.
Landlord Ken Todd previously said: “For the sake of £62, if they came in and were starving I’d just give them the food. The man tried to leave through the back door of the pub which I had already locked and apparently the woman tried to escape by the bathroom window.”
Steve Yeung of The Pearl Dragon restaurant in Eastern Esplanade also claimed the pair fled without paying a £127 bill after consuming four starters, four main courses, and up to eight soft drinks.
The pair are also believed to have targeted numerous taxi drivers, swindling many cabbies out of their fares.
Electrician Daniel Alani pleaded guilty earlier this year to theft, theft from a shop, and eight counts of making off without payment.
