MIDNIGHT CRUISE CONFRONTATION: Intoxicated passengers detained in Florida after forcing entry into stateroom and attacking young family
A late-night confrontation aboard a Caribbean cruise ship resulted in immediate criminal charges after two intoxicated travelers forced their way into a neighboring cabin and assaulted the family inside. Authorities from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office detained twenty-nine-year-old Gannon Jacox and twenty-eight-year-old Brooklyn Hicks as the vessel arrived at Port Canaveral. Law enforcement reports confirm that three passengers sustained injuries during the physical dispute, among them a nine-year-old child.
The incident unfolded during the late-night hours when the suspects engaged in a loud argument in an accommodation corridor. When an adjacent traveler opened their stateroom door to ask for quiet, the interaction turned hostile. Court filings indicate that rather than de-escalating the disagreement, Jacox began recording the exchange on his mobile phone while encouraging his companion to initiate a physical confrontation.
The dispute quickly turned violent as the pair breached the entrance of the small stateroom. Witnesses stated that Hicks began swinging wildly at the occupants within the tight quarters of the room. Jacox entered immediately afterward and allegedly struck all three family members, including the minor.

The aggressive altercation resulted in unexpected injuries for the male suspect due to the confined space of the cabin. Sheriff Wayne Ivey confirmed that Jacox suffered a severe facial wound near his eye during the commotion. Investigators concluded that Hicks inadvertently struck her partner while throwing punches in the cramped accommodation.
Shipboard security teams managed the situation at sea until the liner reached its scheduled port in Florida. Deputies waiting at the terminal immediately took both individuals into custody upon arrival. Emergency responders assessed the victims and confirmed that although they sustained facial bruising and distress, none required intensive hospital care.
Jacox has been charged with multiple counts of burglary with assault or battery, felony child abuse, and misdemeanor battery. Hicks is facing formal charges of burglary with assault or battery along with battery counts. Both defendants remain in custody at the local detention facility awaiting their upcoming court hearings.
