THIS is the wild moment a deranged passenger tried to pry open exit doors and force his way into a pilot’s cabin in a shocking mid-flight rampage.

Passengers and flight staff had to work together to stop the frenzied man.

In shocking video footage caught by a fellow traveller, the man was seen being detained by several passengers and flight crew.

The men worked to handcuff the crazed passenger’s hands after he had reportedly tried to open the exit doors on the flight.

Flight crew later reported that he had told them he wanted to get off the plane.

He then allegedly ignored the flight attendants’ pleas to sit down and stop.

Instead, he rushed to the front of the aircraft and tried to get into the cockpit, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.

After his outburst, an off-duty flight attendant volunteered to sit in the same row to help keep the man in his seat.

When the flight attendant got up to use the bathroom, the madman attempted to grab his bag and choke him.

As the chaos unfolded, fellow traveller Josh Longood, a former professional MMA fighter and a competitive Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, leapt into action to help the off-duty attendant.

Seen in the video wearing a “jiu jitsu” shirt, the medical device salesman held down the man as flight crew secured his hands in zip-ties.

Despite several others trying to control him, the man continued to fight with his captors, before they were finally able to secure his hands.

Longood later took a photo smiling in the seat next to the crazed passenger.

The disturbed traveller was seen tied up and slumped into the plane’s window.

The Frontier Airlines flight between Puerto Rico and Chicago had to be diverted to Miami, according to authorities.

Following the harrowing ordeal on Sunday, crew members reported the “passenger disturbance” to the Federal Aviation Administration.

“After these pics, he slipped the ties, so I had to hold him down until our emergency landing in Miami,” Longood said.

“Luckily, I’m a light sleeper and was only a row away when this all went down.

“Glad everyone made it home safely, hoping my next flight is significantly more boring.”

The flight landed safely, where police arrested the unidentified passenger and charged him with a misdemeanour count of battery.

Frontier Airlines confirmed the incident in a statement, saying the flight had continued its journey to Chicago a few hours after the harrowing ordeal.

“Law enforcement boarded the aircraft in Miami and removed the passenger, and the flight subsequently continued on to Chicago a few hours later,” a Frontier Airlines spokesperson said.
