Another player with ties to the Georgia football program was arrested for reckless driving.

Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Nolan Smith Jr., who played for the Bulldogs from 2019 to 2022, was arrested last Friday and charged with speeding and reckless driving in Georgia, the Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office told ESPN.

Smith, 25, was clocked driving 135 mph in a 70-mph zone on the interstate at 10:41 p.m. ET, according to notes taken by a sheriff’s office staffer and relayed to ESPN on Wednesday.

The Sheriff’s Office reported that Smith posted bond and was released shortly after the arrest. A court date has been scheduled.

The Georgia Gazette was the first to report Smith’s arrest.

Smith, 25, was selected by the Eagles — who begin organized team activities next Tuesday — in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

He is part of an Eagles defense that also features several former Georgia Bulldogs stars, including Nakobe Dean, Jalen Carter, and Jordan Davis.

Smith recorded 6.5 sacks during the 2024 regular season and added four more in the playoffs, helping the Eagles secure their second Super Bowl title.

In his three NFL seasons, he has totaled 10.5 sacks, including three sacks in 12 games during the most recent season.

The Georgia football program, led by head coach Kirby Smart for the past 10 years, has faced ongoing issues with some players demonstrating irresponsible behavior on the roadways.
