In the quiet pre-dawn hours of June 7, 2022, a tragic act of possessive rage shattered lives in Jackson, Mississippi. Zverian Brent, driven by jealousy and refusal to let go, allegedly kicked in the carport door of his ex-fiancée’s home on Fleetwood Drive and walked straight to her bedroom, where she lay sleeping beside her new partner. What followed was a brutal confrontation that left 26-year-old Terrencia Jackson dead and her boyfriend, Henry Perry, fighting for his life.

Terrencia and Zverian, both from Jackson, had dated since around 2016 and shared a young daughter named Zarencia. Their relationship was turbulent, marked by repeated breakups. Friends and family recall Terrencia trying multiple times to leave, only for Zverian to pull her back with promises and pressure. On May 12, 2021 — her 25th birthday — Zverian proposed marriage in a seemingly romantic gesture in front of loved ones. Many hoped it signaled a fresh start.

But the engagement did not heal the underlying toxicity. By early 2022, Terrencia made the difficult decision to end things permanently. She sought peace and began dating Henry Perry. Those close to her described her as a devoted mother and determined woman ready to build a better future for herself and her child.

That fateful morning, around 4 a.m., Zverian forced entry into the home. He headed directly to the bedroom, confronting Terrencia and Henry. A brief argument erupted before gunfire rang out. Terrencia was struck multiple times and died at the scene. Henry, also wounded, managed to return fire, hitting Zverian and forcing him to flee. Henry was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but survived after emergency treatment.

Investigators described the attack as clearly targeted. Zverian showed no hesitation, moving purposefully through the house to the bedroom. A woman named Vaita (Vita) Valentine was later arrested for allegedly helping him evade capture in the immediate aftermath. Zverian himself was tracked down and taken into custody by U.S. Marshals.

On September 11, 2025, a Hinds County jury found Zverian Brent guilty of second-degree murder in Terrencia’s death and aggravated assault against Henry Perry. On October 1, 2025, he was sentenced to a total of 50 years in prison — 30 years for the murder and 20 years for the assault, to be served concurrently.
