In a devastating case that has shocked a quiet, affluent neighbourhood in Bedfordshire, a mother and her two young daughters were discovered dead inside their £1.3 million family home. The tragic discovery has triggered a murder investigation and an international manhunt for the father, who is believed to have fled the country just days earlier.
Nothabo Zandile Tshuma, known as Zandile and aged 42, along with her daughters Natalie, 15, and Nala, 5, had not been seen for several days. Concerned friends or neighbours raised the alarm, leading Bedfordshire Police to force entry into the detached property on Carnoustie Drive in Great Denham on Monday. Inside, officers made the grim discovery of the three bodies, prompting an immediate murder probe.
The family lived in an upscale four-bedroom, four-bathroom home complete with a swimming pool, purchased around May 2024 for approximately £1.27 million. The residence, which had undergone recent renovations, stood as a symbol of success in a peaceful area overlooking former golf course land. Neighbours described the family as well-to-do, noting their BMW and the father’s apparent professional achievements.
Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma, also known as Mark and aged 45, has been named as the prime suspect. A British citizen of Zimbabwean heritage, he is believed to have left the UK from Heathrow Airport on Saturday using a British passport and is now thought to be in Zimbabwe. Police released CCTV footage showing him at the airport as part of their appeal.
Tshuma worked in senior IT roles, previously serving as Head of Development and Support at a major accounting institute. He also ran a property business, Nexus Trove Holdings, from the family address, which reported solid assets and profits in recent filings. The family had roots connected to Zimbabwe, adding a cross-border dimension to the case.
The deaths have left the community reeling. Tributes poured in for little Nala, described by her school as a bubbly “little ray of sunshine” full of positivity and humour. Natalie attended a local girls’ school, while the family was remembered by some as gracious and kind. Extended family issued a statement acknowledging the “unimaginable loss” and expressing gratitude for support during this difficult time.
Detectives from Bedfordshire Police, working with other forces, are treating the incident as a triple murder. Senior officers have made a direct public appeal to the suspect, stressing that investigations cross borders and urging him to surrender to authorities. Zimbabwean police have indicated awareness of the case, though formal international processes continue.
