Heartbreaking Video: Instacart Mom Slaps Helpless 6-Year-Old Son in Face After He Collapses Under Heavy Water Case During Delivery

A Florida mother was arrested this week after she was caught on surveillance video allegedly slapping her young son while he struggled to help her complete an Instacart delivery.
Disturbing Ring camera footage captured the incident outside a customer’s apartment at a St. Augustine complex, where 36-year-old Kiah Lowery can allegedly be heard ordering her 6-year-old son to help carry the groceries while repeatedly insulting and cursing at him.
“You f–king prick,” Lowery says in the video. “You carry this f–king water.”
She then allegedly handed the child a 24-pack of bottled water and told him, “I’m not going to hurt you.”
The boy, who police said weighs just 49 pounds, immediately struggled under the 26-pound load and pleaded with his mother, saying it was too heavy.
“Ow! I can’t hold it!” he cried before dropping the package, causing it to burst open and send bottles rolling across the hallway.
As the child tried to run away, Lowery allegedly grabbed him by the shirt and slapped him across the face.
“You’re the worst. You’re the f–king worst,” she yelled as the crying boy held his head.
“How dare you. You are a f–king piece of s–t,” she continued before ordering him back to work.
“You’re going to carry something.”
The customer who witnessed the incident through the doorbell camera reported the “violent interaction” to police that same day.
According to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, Lowery was charged with child abuse in connection with the May 31 incident.
“The defendant’s actions, before her reaction of striking the victim’s face, created a severe imbalance for the victim,” investigators wrote.
“The victim was clearly unable to hold the water and was struck and scolded by the defendant for an action that he was incapable of performing.”
During the investigation, Lowery allegedly told deputies that her son had been “defiant” while she was completing three delivery orders at the apartment complex.
She apologized for her behavior, claiming it occurred during an “over-stimulated moment.”
Lowery was booked into the St. Johns County Jail before posting a $5,000 bond.
As part of her release conditions, she is prohibited from contacting or seeing her son and must remain at least 500 feet away from him.
Instacart told The Post that Lowery was not an employee, noting that all delivery shoppers are independent contractors.
The company added that bringing additional individuals—especially children—on deliveries violates its policies.
“The behavior captured in this video is alarming and completely unacceptable. We have zero tolerance for violence of any kind, and the shopper has been permanently removed from the platform,” Instacart said in a statement.
“We take situations like this extremely seriously and will fully cooperate with law enforcement and the relevant authorities as they conduct their investigation.”
