Sheffield Baby S Mu@rder Case Takes Shocking Turn as 15-Year-Old Defendant Faces New Allegations — What the Court Has Revealed
A deeply disturbing investigation into the death of a newborn baby girl in Sheffield has taken a further turn after prosecutors confirmed that a 15-year-old girl is among those facing charges connected to the case.
The teenager, whose identity is legally protected because of her age, is not charged with murder. She has been charged with perverting the course of justice in connection with the death of the infant, who has been referred to in court as Baby S. Four adults have separately been charged with murder, causing or allowing the death of a child, and perverting the course of justice.
The case began in the early hours of Sunday, August 30, 2026, when South Yorkshire Police received a report raising concerns about the safety of a newborn baby in the Wincobank area of Sheffield. Officers went to a property on Holywell Heights, where the infant was found.
Despite efforts by police officers and paramedics, the baby was pronounced dead at the scene. A subsequent forensic post-mortem examination established that her death was caused by stab wounds.
The investigation rapidly escalated, with seven people initially arrested on suspicion of murder. Police later charged four adults: Andrea Skopova, 20; Peter Horvath, 19; Peter Horvath, 38; and Nina Horvathova, 37. The 15-year-old girl was charged separately with perverting the course of justice. Two other women, aged 26 and 37, remained on bail after being arrested on suspicion of murder.
Court proceedings have since revealed further disturbing details about the circumstances surrounding Baby S’s death. Prosecutors told the court that the newborn suffered 33 injuries from 15 separate stabbings. Her body was found in an outbuilding at the property, intensifying the shock surrounding an already tragic case.
The four adult defendants appeared before Sheffield Crown Court on September 3. The hearing was described as highly emotional, with the 15-year-old also appearing in court. Her identity remains protected under UK law because she was under 18 at the time of the alleged offence. She was remanded into youth custody.
The court has now set a provisional trial date of April 12, 2027, with proceedings expected to last between six and seven weeks. The defendants remain in custody ahead of further hearings, while the investigation continues.
South Yorkshire Police have repeatedly urged the public not to speculate about the case or circulate unverified information online. Detectives have stressed that the investigation remains complex and that protecting the integrity of the legal process is essential.
For now, many questions surrounding Baby S remain unanswered. The precise circumstances that led to the newborn’s death, the alleged involvement of each defendant, and the significance of the 15-year-old’s alleged actions will ultimately have to be determined through the courts.
