What could you possibly get for the girl who has everything? If you’re Travis Kelce, it appears a suite of jewelry once owned by Elizabeth Taylor will do nicely.

Over the past several weeks, Taylor Swift has been seen wearing various pieces from a collection of opal jewels originating from the late movie star’s estate. First, she wore a ring and a round-cut bracelet during an April outing in NYC, followed by a similar marquise-shaped bracelet for her recent New York Times Magazine interview.

Then, shortly after Swift was spotted in Brooklyn on Saturday night wearing the full suite — including both bracelets, the ring, and a show-stopping set of matching chandelier earrings — Adam Fox of Fox Estate Jewelry shared an Instagram Reel suggesting that Kelce may have purchased the one-of-a-kind set for his bride-to-be.

Designed by Darlene de Sedle, the full suite was sold by Christie’s in 2011 for $6,000, as the auction house confirmed to Page Six Style. It was later sold by Fox’s company via 1stDibs in 2025 for $125,000.

The sale took place “during Christmas time,” Fox said in his video, and the buyer was a sports agent — not exactly his usual type of customer.

“On the majority of these online platforms, for higher-ticket items, somebody will reach out, ask questions. Sometimes they will try to negotiate, sometimes they won’t. This just randomly sold,” the third-generation estate jeweler told Page Six Style.

Taylor Swift Shares Inspiration Behind Song 'Elizabeth Taylor'

Despite the “very strange” nature of the purchase, Fox shrugged it off — that is, until he woke up on Sunday to a post from the Instagram account WeWoreWhatJewels showing the full suite on Swift.

“I was like, ah, this makes so much more sense,” he told us, adding that it was “very cool” seeing jewelry he sold end up on one of the most famous women in the world.

As for whether Kelce (or a member of his team) was the mystery buyer? “I’m just the jewelry dealer,” he demurred. “I just had to assume. And the only reason I assumed that was because it was going to a sports agent.”

The suite was a perfect present for Swift on multiple levels. The pop icon’s most recent album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” includes a song inspired by Elizabeth Taylor. There’s also her smash hit “Opalite,” an upbeat ode to Kelce that the Chiefs player has called his personal favorite track from the record.

The opal also happens to be Kelce’s birthstone. Swift’s connection to the gem, however, pre-dates their relationship. “My favorite stone is an opal because when I was bullied in school, my mom used to take me to TJ Maxx after school to look at the opal jewelry,” she told Us Weekly in 2016. “I thought opals were so beautiful, and somehow it made me feel better. We never bought them, just looked.”

Fox had initially been drawn to the suite due to its Hollywood provenance, “very good” quality, and unique designer. While Taylor reportedly owned a number of Darlene de Sedle’s pieces, the jeweler is far from a household name. “It’s not something that’s ever run across my desk,” he said of the set, crafted from black opals and natural Australian crystal set in 22-karat gold.

Following the 2011 Christie’s sale, the pieces disappeared from public view for more than a decade, adding to their intrigue.

“I’m just glad it went to somebody that actually appreciates it. I know Taylor Swift has a song about Elizabeth Taylor, and it all makes sense. It seems like it was bought with a lot of purpose; there was obviously a lot of thought put into this one,” Fox said.

“And coming from somebody like Elizabeth Taylor and going to somebody who, among today’s generation, is just as recognizable as Taylor was back then? I think that’s very cool.”
