Former Penn State football player Kyle Vasey was seriously injured and his fiancée was killed after a driver with a revoked license allegedly plowed into pedestrians on a sidewalk in Colorado.

Vasey, 30, was walking with his 35-year-old fiancée, Corinne More, on the morning of June 1 in Highlands Ranch when they were struck, CBS Colorado reported.

More was killed in the crash. Vasey was hospitalized with serious injuries and has undergone multiple surgeries. A third pedestrian, 72-year-old Dianne Windes, was also seriously injured and hospitalized.

Vasey played as a long snapper at Penn State, where he started all 13 games in 2017 and later received a scholarship from coach James Franklin. In 2018, he signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent but was later waived.

A GoFundMe set up for Vasey’s recovery states that he suffered multiple fractures, including three spine fractures and four broken ribs, and has undergone six surgeries. He remained on a ventilator and was sedated to manage pain, though his family expressed optimism about his physical recovery.

Authorities arrested 28-year-old Adam Bauserman approximately 15 minutes after the crash. A witness followed his truck for more than five miles to Daniels Park, according to CBS Colorado.

Witnesses reported that the driver made a U-turn after the crash, returned to the scene, slowly drove past the wreckage, and then fled.

Deputies described Bauserman as “unusually quiet” after his arrest. At one point, he allegedly asked, “Do you know if I killed the man?” The man survived. More did not.

Douglas County Sheriff Darren Weekly said investigators do not believe Bauserman knew any of the victims.

Bauserman was driving with a revoked license following a DUI arrest the previous year. “Mr. Bauserman has had several revocations and suspensions of his license over the last 10 years,” Weekly said. “He should never have been on the roadway, and as a result of that, somebody is now deceased.”

Investigators are still determining whether the crash was intentional.

Bauserman faces charges including vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a fatal accident. A judge set his bond at $100,000.

More’s sister told CBS Colorado that her sister lived in the neighborhood and had been out walking with Vasey when she was killed. She described More as someone with a big heart who was loved by everyone who knew her.
