TikTok Star’s Final Hours Exposed: She Left to End a Toxic Romance — Then Police Arrested the Abuser Who Lured Her to a Vineyard M.u.r.d.e.r

Sonia Bellina, a 29-year-old French TikTok creator with more than 260,000 followers, was visiting her family in the Nîmes area of southern France in the weeks before her 30th birthday. She had built an online presence through short dance videos, lip-sync performances, humor, and beauty content after training as a beauty therapist specializing in eyelash extensions. Originally from the Gard region, she had recently spent more time in Paris.
On the night of August 10 or in the early hours of August 11, she left her family’s home without a bag. She told relatives she was going to meet a man she had only recently started seeing and intended to end what she described as a toxic relationship. She expected to return within a few hours. Her phone went offline around 2 a.m.
A farm worker discovered her body on the morning of August 12 in a vineyard in Saint-Gilles, a short distance from Nîmes. The remains were found lying between rows of vines, partially burned and unclothed. Authorities opened a murder investigation immediately. Formal identification through DNA analysis was confirmed on August 19.
Investigators later established a roughly five-hour window between her departure and the estimated time of death. Phone records and vehicle movements placed two men from the Nîmes area at or near the scene. Both were taken into custody on August 19. One, a man in his early thirties already known to the justice system for domestic violence and other violent offenses, is regarded as the primary suspect. He had prior contact with Bellina. The second man was later released after evidence failed to establish his involvement. The remaining suspect has been held for further questioning.

The vineyard location was isolated, near an airfield and a military site, with limited nearby CCTV coverage of the exact spot. The body had been left in a place that offered some concealment among the vines yet was still visible to the first worker who arrived at dawn. Autopsy results have not been made public in detail, but the condition of the remains required DNA confirmation.
The case has highlighted several overlapping risks. Bellina had recently met the man in question, and no one in her close circle knew him well. She left home at night to confront what she considered a harmful relationship. The primary suspect’s recorded history of violence against women and alleged connections to the sex-work environment raise questions about how she was drawn to the meeting. Social-media visibility can attract both fans and individuals with predatory intent. Rural isolation then made it easier for a crime to occur without immediate witnesses.
Bellina’s family has described her as independent and not the type to seek attention through confrontation. They have also faced a wave of online hostility after her death. The investigation continues to examine whether the killing was planned and how the suspect arranged the encounter. French authorities treat the matter as a potential premeditated murder, though that element has not yet been legally confirmed.
The tragedy underscores the gap between an influencer’s public image and the private dangers that can arise when someone attempts to leave an unhealthy situation. Bellina’s last known action was an effort to close a chapter. Instead, it became the final hours of her life.
