Caroline Peña’s Final Social Media Post Draws Attention As Texas Murder Case Moves Forward
A social media post shared by Caroline “Caro” Peña shortly before her death has become a poignant focus for family members and friends as the criminal case surrounding the 32-year-old mother’s fatal stabbing continues in Texas.
Peña, a mother of five from Del Rio, died after suffering multiple stab wounds during an altercation on June 29. As loved ones continue mourning her loss, many have revisited one of her final Facebook posts, in which she shared a prayer asking for God’s protection.
The message, posted only days before the fatal incident, read: “May God protect me from what my eyes don’t see and what my ears don’t hear.”

Since her death, friends and relatives have widely shared the post online, describing it as a heartbreaking reminder of the uncertainty surrounding the final days of her life. While many have viewed the message as especially emotional in hindsight, there is no evidence that Peña was referring to the events that later unfolded.
Authorities have charged 19-year-old Amaya “Cookie” Diaz, 21-year-old Kitty Mia Diaz, and 21-year-old Kyandra Renee Faz with murder.
All three defendants remain in custody and are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
According to court documents filed by prosecutors, investigators allege the confrontation occurred outside a residence in Del Rio following an ongoing dispute.
The prosecution alleges that Amaya Diaz exited a vehicle carrying a knife and stabbed Peña during the altercation. Prosecutors further allege that Kitty Mia Diaz and Kyandra Faz subsequently joined the physical assault. Those allegations remain subject to proof through the judicial process.
Investigators have stated that surveillance footage, witness interviews, forensic evidence, and physical evidence recovered from the scene form key components of the prosecution’s case.
Authorities have not publicly released all of the surveillance video, although court filings indicate detectives relied extensively on the recordings while reconstructing the sequence of events.
Emergency responders transported Peña to a nearby hospital after the incident.
Despite medical treatment, she later died from her injuries. The medical findings are expected to be an important part of the prosecution’s case as the proceedings move forward.
The death of Peña has deeply affected the Del Rio community.
Family members and friends continue remembering her as a devoted mother whose five children were the center of her life. Memorial gatherings have been held throughout the community, with flowers, candles, and handwritten messages left in her honor.
Legal experts note that arrest affidavits and criminal complaints reflect the prosecution’s allegations rather than findings of fact.
The prosecution bears the burden of proving each charge beyond a reasonable doubt, while defense attorneys will have the opportunity to challenge the evidence presented during future court proceedings.
Investigators have indicated that the homicide investigation remains active.
Prosecutors continue reviewing forensic testing and other evidence and have previously stated that additional charges could be considered if supported by the investigation.
For Peña’s family, however, attention has remained focused on the woman they lost rather than the criminal allegations alone.
Loved ones say her final social media message now serves as a lasting expression of her faith and has become one of the many memories they continue to hold close while awaiting the outcome of the judicial process.
As the case proceeds through the Texas court system, the court will ultimately determine whether the allegations against the defendants are proven based on the evidence presented at trial.
