Emma Vardy recently stepped in to cover part of Nina Warhurst‘s maternity leave on BBC Breakfast, before giving birth herself at the end of August.

But now rising star Emma has shared another major life update with her fans, revealing she is leaving her role as Northern Ireland Correspondent for BBC News to head across the pond.

Emma shared a picture of herself looking at the camera and smiling while cradling her baby boy Jago Fionn and a small USA flag.

She captioned it: “We’ve certainly had our hands (& hearts) full lately, now there’s a big adventure ahead for my wee family.

“After an incredible 5 years in Northern Ireland, Jago Fionn
@Mr_PlusOne & I are off to actual Hollywood!

“Not for my acting skills but to become the BBC’s LA Correspondent.”

In a second post she added: “…reporting on everything from the red carpet awards to the presidential election. & catching a few waves.

“I’ve absolutely loved my time in Northern Ireland & it will always have a very special place in my heart.

“Will treasure our final weeks before we say goodbye NI.”

Emma, who is married to football coach Aaron Adams, was immediately flooded with replies from her followers, with one writing: “Northern Ireland loses a really great correspondent. We were always a bit sniffy in Norn Iron about English reporters covering the patch. You’ve been excellent.”

Emma replied: “I’ve been very proud to do it. Many amazing people have given up their time to help me understand this place and I hope I did it justice.”

Another fan tweeted: “What a wonderful adventure for you all. Warmest congratulations Emma. X.”

A third added: “Congrats, what an amazing opportunity! We will miss you in NI – you’ve done an enormous amount to help convey to the rest of the UK how things are here while remaining sensitive to the complexities of NI; something to be very proud of. Thank you!”
