Strictly Come Dancing has kicked off for its 23rd series and after 21 years the list of celebrities who’ve have taken part in the BBC One flagship show is pretty lengthy. One of those celebrities is Welsh star Gethin Jones, who now co-hosts Morning Live.

During Morning Live’s regular daily segment, Strictly fitness, they look back at past routines and teach viewers at home how to do it, step-by-step. On Monday, September 29 Gethin got involved as usual and the workout happened to be his first dance on Strictly Come Dancing from way back in 2007. In the series five opener, Gethin, with his professional partner Camilla Dallerup, danced the cha-cha-cha.

Looking back on the moment on Morning Live, Gethin admitted he was “absolutely terrified”.

He said: “I genuinely thought I was going to get 40 out of 40, during this dance. For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter.

“I was absolutely terrified doing that,2 he continued. Gethin ended up with 22 points out of 40 but it didn’t harm his chances, he and Camilla got through to the semi-finals of that year, losing out to eventual runner-up, Matt Di Angelo.

Throughout the live morning show Gethin faced a lot of teasing from his co-presenter Helen Skeleton and the Strictly Come Dancing professional Neil Jones about the dance.

Helen said it was a “good effort” and Neil said he would teach Gethin how to perform the routine properly.

Recently Gethin started to drop hints about a new special episode of Morning Live.

He said: “Talking of getting outside and the benefits it can have on your well-being, we have a special show coming up in a few weeks.

“That’s pretty much all I can tell you about, but we’re very, very excited about it.

“Details are still under wraps for now, but we will be bringing you that news very soon.”

“And I’ve asked you several times, but you will not give me a clue.,” Louise, his co-host on the day, chimed in.

Gethin replied, “Not allowed to say anything to me. That’s it. I’ll be in trouble.”

It has also recently been confirmed that Gethin will join the line-up of guest co hosts on the hit quiz show Pointless.

He is one of several high profile names set to appear, with Angela Rippon, Trevor Nelson, Judi Love, Tom Allen, and Angela Scanlon also confirmed as guest co hosts.
