🚨 SHOCKING UK CORONER VERDICT: Dad was ‘RECKLESS’ and ‘knew full well he had shot his own daughter’ after heated Trump argument – ruled unlawful killing! 😱🔫💔

A British coroner has ruled that a 23-year-old woman was unlawfully killed by her father in Texas following a heated political argument about Donald Trump, describing the father’s actions as “reckless” and finding he acted with gross negligence.
Senior Coroner Jacqueline Devonish concluded a two-day inquest at Cheshire Coroner’s Court on February 11, 2026, determining that Lucy Harrison died from an unlawful killing on the grounds of gross negligence manslaughter. The verdict comes more than a year after the January 10, 2025, incident at her father Kris Harrison’s home in Prosper, Texas, near Dallas.
Lucy, a fashion buyer from Warrington, Cheshire, had traveled to the U.S. with her boyfriend, Sam Littler, to visit her father and his family. The trip ended in tragedy when she was shot once in the chest while alone in a bedroom with her father.
Littler testified that earlier that day, Lucy became upset after a “quite a big argument” with her father about then-President-elect Donald Trump, who was set to be inaugurated later that month. Littler recounted that Lucy questioned her father: “How would you feel if I was the girl in that situation and I’d been sexually assaulted?” Kris reportedly responded that he had two other daughters living with him and “wouldn’t be upset that much.”
The argument escalated tensions over guns and politics. Kris Harrison, described by the coroner as a “functioning alcoholic” who had consumed at least 500ml of wine that day, later took Lucy into his bedroom to show her a pistol. He claimed the gun discharged accidentally.
In a statement read on his behalf – as he did not attend the inquest – Kris maintained the shooting was unintentional and that he had no prior firearms training. He said he bought the pistol without instruction on safe handling.
Coroner Devonish rejected key parts of that account. She ruled that to shoot Lucy through the chest while she stood would have required Kris to point the gun at his daughter, without checking whether it was loaded, and pull the trigger. “I find these actions to be reckless,” she stated.
The coroner added that Kris “knew full well he had shot his own daughter, pointing a gun at chest height and pulling the trigger.” She noted he failed to immediately inform Littler – who was on the phone with 911 – that he had shot Lucy, despite knowing the facts.
Devonish accepted that Kris did not realize the gun was loaded and described him as a “teaser” who may have been showing the firearm to rile or provoke his daughter amid the earlier dispute. However, she emphasized his lack of experience: no training, no prior firing of a gun, and purchasing the weapon without safety precautions. “His actions have killed his own daughter,” she said, adding it was hoped he now recognized “the risk he posed to her life.”
In Texas, a Collin County grand jury declined to indict Kris Harrison, meaning no criminal charges were filed in the U.S. Lucy’s family has criticized what they call failures by American authorities, including delays or oversights in the initial response.
Speaking after the verdict, Lucy’s mother, Jane Coates, said through tears that the ruling gave her daughter “her voice back” after a year of “deep shock, grief and fight.” She described an “unrelenting” effort to let Lucy “speak her truth with the only voice she has now.”
The case has drawn attention on both sides of the Atlantic, highlighting intersections of family dynamics, political polarization, alcohol use, and gun ownership. Trump – whose impending second inauguration framed the argument – was not directly implicated, but the topic fueled the day’s tensions.
Experts note that such incidents, while tragic, remain rare. U.S. gun deaths involving family members often stem from disputes, accidental discharges, or negligence, with alcohol frequently a factor. The U.K., with stricter gun laws, rarely sees similar cases, making the inquest particularly poignant.
Lucy’s death was confirmed by autopsy as a single gunshot wound to the chest. No evidence suggested intent to kill; the coroner’s finding centered on recklessness and gross negligence.
The family’s grief remains raw. Coates and others expressed hope the verdict brings some closure while underscoring preventable risks. Littler’s testimony painted a picture of a loving relationship turned deadly in moments of heated exchange.
As the inquest closed, Devonish extended condolences and stressed the human cost of unchecked recklessness. For Lucy’s loved ones, the ruling offers legal acknowledgment but no reversal of the loss.
The tragedy serves as a stark reminder: Political arguments can escalate dangerously when mixed with firearms, alcohol, and family strain. In this case, what began as words ended in irreversible silence.
