Old friends Gethin Jones and Angela Griffin appeared on Morning Live together when co-host Helen Skeleton got caught up in their teasing. Helen commented: “this is awkward” during a segment which saw the hosts interviewing Angela about her directing work.
Angela has directed some episodes of the latest series of Blue Lights, the BBC One Northern Irish police drama, when the awkward moment occurred at the end of the interview. Angela said she would be watching the episode live on BBC One on Monday, September 29.
Gethin, who is a massive fan of the series, said: “I’ll be messaging later… I expect a reply… pretend we’ve got friends in high places… she’ll ignore me, probably.”
Angela replied: “I won’t, I’d never ignore you Gethin, we go back!”
Helen then chipped in: “I feel like this is awkward!” before moving the show on.
Earlier in the show, Gethin admitted that he was “absolutely terrified” during a major career moment.
During Morning Live’s regular daily segment, Strictly fitness, they look back at past routines and teach viewers at home how to do it, step-by-step.
Gethin got involved as usual, and the workout happened to be his first dance on Strictly Come Dancing from way back in 2007.
In the series five opener, Gethin, with his professional partner Camilla Dallerup, danced the cha-cha-cha.
Looking back on the moment on Morning Live, Gethin admitted he was “absolutely terrified”.
He said: “I genuinely thought I was going to get 40 out of 40 during this dance.
“I was absolutely terrified doing that” he continued.
Gethin ended up with 22 points out of 40, but it didn’t harm his chances; he and Camilla got through to the semi-finals of that year, losing out to eventual runner-up Matt Di Angelo.
Throughout the live morning show, Gethin faced a lot of teasing from Helen and the Strictly Come Dancing professional, Neil Jones, about the dance.
