The ‘Freakier Friday’ star, 39, revealed on ‘Live with Kelly and Mark’ that she’s afforded a certain amount of privacy that celebrities don’t get in other places

Lindsay Lohan is loving life in Dubai — and she shared why.

The Freakier Friday star, 39, revealed on Live with Kelly and Mark that the main reason why she loves living in the city is that she’s afforded a certain amount of privacy that celebrities don’t get in other places, especially Hollywood.

“It’s just far away from Hollywood, and I live a very normal life,” Lohan shared. “There’s no worry of like, I can’t go eat at this place ‘cause someone’s gonna take a picture of my son. And it’s just, I feel very safe.”

“They don’t have photographers there?,” host Kelly Ripa asked, to which the actress responded, “No, it’s not legal. You can’t take a picture of someone else if you’re in a restaurant. You have to ask the person, which is a big difference from here.”

“That’s incredible,” a shocked Ripa exclaimed, to which Lohan agreed. “Yeah, privacy is key.”

Lohan moved to Dubai in 2014, and met her future husband Bader Shammas there. The couple first sparked romance rumors in February 2020 and wed in 2022. Over a year later, they welcomed their first child together, son Luai, 2.

The Parent Trap actress has kept her personal life relatively private over the years, and previously shared with Elle the difference between sharing time with her son in L.A., New York City and Dubai, which she often hops around back and forth to.

“It’s hard in L.A. Even taking my son [to] the park in L.A., I get stressed,” Lohan said. “I’m like, ‘Are there cameras?’ In New York, there’s no worry; no one bothers us. Everyone has their own thing going on.”

“There’s a different kind of energy in New York. I’d rather have downtime in New York than I would in L.A. But the nice thing about L.A. is, I like space [and you get that here],” she continued. “But I’m thinking as I’m saying this, the funny thing is, in Dubai I get all of those things.”

She previously opened up about her daily life in Dubai with Flaunt magazine. She said her go-to routine includes waking up with her son and sharing breakfast with him before she’s off to Pilates or a trip to the park.

“I think the only difference is the time zone shift,” she continued. “There’s a big disconnect between when work starts for me and other places. I can do my work calls with New York at like three or four … and then L.A. picks up later.”
