Sullivan’s Crossing has become one of the must-watch shows of the summer — and it’s all thanks toNetflix. Since landing on the streamer, this cozy drama has topped the streamer’s viewing charts and cultivated a whole new audience keen on small-town romances and scenic Canadian vistas.
Inspired by Robyn Carr’s book series, Sullivan’s Crossing centers on Maggie Sullivan (Morgan Kohan), a Boston-based neurosurgeon whose life takes a sharp turn after some tumultuous legal issues. With her career in limbo, Maggie heads back home, where her father, Harry “Sully” Sullivan (Scott Patterson), runs the picturesque campground that gives the series its name.
As Maggie starts over in the fictional town of Timberlake, she reunites with familiar faces, makes new friends, and, yes, falls in love with ruggedly charming handyman Cal Jones (Chad Michael Murray).
No one — and we mean no one — is safe from the whirlwind of small-town drama that unfolds each season on Sullivan’s Crossing. Season 3 cranks the tension up to an 11 and ends on a humdinger of a twist.

Does Edna die in Sullivan’s Crossing season 3?
Tom Jackson as Frank and Andrea Menard as Edna in season 3 of ‘Sullivan’s Crossing’
Thankfully, beloved Timberlake local Edna (Andrea Menard) pulls through. After slowly losing her eyesight throughout season 3, Edna learns that a brain tumor is the cause. If left untreated, it could leave her permanently blind and potentially lead to more serious complications. But then again, surgery carries its own life-threatening risks.
Faced with a tough choice, Edna agrees to surgery — but only if Maggie performs it. Maggie agrees, and after an intense, high-stakes procedure, the operation is a success.
In the season finale, Edna is on the mend and back home with her husband, Frank (Tom Jackson). In a sweet moment, Frank recalls something she once said about how she never gets to do what she wants. So, Frank called a travel agent and planned a trip to Alaska. Once Edna is fully recovered and back on her feet, he plans on taking her to see the Northern Lights.
Edna couldn’t be happier, but she tells Frank that her time in the hospital reminded her to be grateful for what she already has, which is him.
Is Sully leaving Timberlake for good?
Kate Vernon as Helen and Scott Patterson as Sully in season 3 of ‘Sullivan’s Crossing’
Whether or not Sully’s leaving Timberlake for good remains unclear, but things are nevertheless looking up for Maggie’s pops.
After the fiery cliffhanger that ended season 2, Sullivan’s Crossing wasted no time confirming that Sully survived the blaze at Rob’s (Reid Price) diner. To ease fans’ nerves, the series even threw in a sweet surprise by giving him a love story of his own.
Enter Helen (Kate Vernon), a bestselling romance novelist who showed up at the campground only to be double-booked into someone else’s cabin. What started as a rocky relationship soon turned into a classic love-hate dynamic, and eventually, a genuine connection.
By the season 3 finale, Sully and Helen are fully smitten. He shares with Maggie that he’s heading to Ireland with Helen, who’s meeting with producers about adapting her book into a TV series. Maggie, concerned about her dad leaving Timberlake behind, presses him on what this means.
He tells Maggie he’ll always love Sullivan’s Crossing, and nothing, not even Ireland, can change that. A nice sentiment, that, but not what we would call a definitive answer.
What happens at the end of Sullivan’s Crossing season 3?
Dakota Taylor as Rafe and Lindura as Sydney in season 3 of ‘Sullivan’s Crossing’
Although Sullivan’s Crossing season 3 wraps with plenty of heartwarming moments, the finale doesn’t shy from stirring the pot with some of its couples.
For starters, Sydney (Lindura) and Rafe (Dakota Taylor) find themselves at a crossroads by the finale. Despite talks about the future, including marriage, life gets in the way when Rafe’s job becomes an impediment to his connection with Sydney.
By the end of season 3, their differing views on marriage (Rafe’s more traditional, Sydney’s not) lead to a disagreement. They don’t break up, but the uncertain future of their relationship will certainly be a factor heading into season 4.
Joel Oulette as Jacob and Amalia Williamson as Lola in season 3 of ‘Sullivan’s Crossing’
Meanwhile, Jacob (Joel Oulette) and Lola (Amalia Williamson) have turned their summer fling into something more meaningful. But when Jacob learns he can’t finish his degree in Nova Scotia, he decides to return to Alberta for school. Lola thinks it’s for the best, saying she and Jacob just aren’t ready to give up their individual paths. Nevertheless, the two stay together and agree to try a long-distance arrangement.
And then there’s Maggie and Cal. Just as they settle into living together, Cal stumbles upon a letter Maggie wrote to her ex, Liam (Marcus Rosner), revealing that she would never give up her career for anyone. Like anyone would, Cal starts to panic and questions everything, including whether Maggie is truly all-in on their relationship.
Chad Michael Murray as Cal and Morgan Kohan as Maggie in season 3 of ‘Sullivan’s Crossing’
Cal eventually tells Maggie that he doesn’t want to be the reason she compromises her dreams. But after speaking with Sully, Maggie realizes she doesn’t have to choose between her life in Timberlake and her thriving medical career.
In the finale’s final moments, Maggie tells Cal she’s staying in Timberlake and plans to open her own practice in town.
How does the finale set up Sullivan’s Crossing season 4?
Marcus Rosner as Liam in season 3 of ‘Sullivan’s Crossing’
As Maggie and Cal celebrate their future in Timberlake, Liam unexpectedly shows up. Maggie freezes the moment she sees him, and Liam drops a bombshell: “Is that any way to greet your husband?”
Cal turns to Maggie, waiting for an explanation, but she’s speechless. And with that, the screen fades to black, leaving viewers reeling and setting up one explosive love triangle for season 4.
