Prince William and King Charles are having well-deserved father-son time after a busy couple of weeks. The monarch and heir are taking part of their tradition of “mini-breaks” in Scotland.
Multiple outlets like People reported that the Prince of Wales flew to Balmoral privately, without Kate Middleton and his children. These breaks had been established as a tradition ever since Charles ascended to the throne. While it’s known as bonding time, many royal fans are speculating that they would be talking about the recent going-ons like Donald Trump’s state visit and Charles’ reunion with Harry.
According to the Daily Mail, the heir to the throne is angry that his brother is being welcomed back by their father. “William is back at the point where if you mention Prince Harry in his presence he would throw you out of the room,” a palace insider told the outlet. “He’s doubling down.”
Another source told the tabloid, “William is more determined than ever to cut Harry off altogether. It infuriates William that Harry has pulled off a 12-month ‘master plan’ to re-ingratiate himself.”
The outlet also reports that, “William originally went through all the stages of grief over his brother. When they first fell out he went to Balmoral and went off his food. Just before the Oprah chat screened, he wept. Then he turned to anger and when that stage was over, he simply compartmentalized it all and moved on. He never expected to be regularly in the same postcode as his brother again, like he was last week.”
Recent reports also indicate the relationship between King Charles and Prince William is in danger due to differing views for the . The Daily Beast reported their relationship is “tense, difficult, formal, and fraught,” and that “the vast majority of their communication is mediated by their private secretaries.”
Buckingham Palace confirmed that the King had a private tea with the Duke of Sussex at Clarence House and said no additional details would be shared.
The reunion between Charles and Harry proved to be successful for the latter. The Duke of Sussex told the Guardian that he would like to visit his father more often. “the focus really has to be on my dad,” he told the outlet. He also now seems tob be willing to bring his kids to the UK, something he’d previously said he wouldn’t do. “Yes, I would. This week has definitely brought that closer,” he said.
