A tragic and deeply disturbing case has unfolded in Illinois as Nedas Revuckas is accused of killing Eliza Morales, her unborn child, and harming her dog before allegedly setting her apartment on fire. Authorities say the attack occurred after Revuckas went to her home to inquire about a car she was selling through Facebook Marketplace.
The incident has shaken the community and devastated the family of Eliza Morales, a 32-year-old mother described by loved ones as warm, kind, and deeply devoted to her daughter and husband. She leaves behind a young child and a grieving husband who was her high-school sweetheart — the person she had been with for most of her life.

According to investigators, Revuckas went to the apartment under the pretense of discussing the sale of a vehicle. What transpired afterward led to a scene that authorities described as “one of the most horrific acts of violence” they had encountered in recent years. Officials say the apartment was later set on fire, and emergency responders discovered the extent of the tragedy inside.
The family’s dog was also attacked during the incident, according to reports from authorities.
Police quickly identified Revuckas as the suspect and took him into custody. Officials have not released a possible motive and say the investigation remains active. Detectives are reviewing digital communications, Marketplace interactions, and Revuckas’s prior movements to determine what led to the deadly confrontation.
Friends and relatives of Morales describe her as someone who radiated positivity and was known for her dedication to her family. Her husband, speaking through tears to WLS, said:
“I’m going to spend the rest of my life missing her.”
The couple had been together since high school and built a life centered around family and raising their young daughter. Loved ones say Morales was excited about her growing family and was preparing for a new chapter of motherhood.
Community members have been gathering to honor Eliza and support her family, leaving flowers, lighting candles, and sharing messages online. Many have expressed heartbreak not only over her death but also over the circumstances — a woman attacked in her own home by someone responding to an online listing.
Authorities have reiterated warnings about the risks associated with online marketplace meetups, urging residents to use police-designated safe-exchange zones whenever possible.
Revuckas is facing multiple serious charges, and prosecutors say additional counts may be added as the investigation progresses. A court date has not yet been scheduled.
The community continues to mourn as details unfold, and loved ones prepare for the difficult days ahead.
