Morning Live was interrupted on Thursday as host Gaby Roslin announced that Nick Knowles had “big news”.

Introducing Nick to the show, Gethin Jones began, “Well, last time I saw you, Nick, it was for the BBC Children in Need DIY SOS. I was head to toe in mud, and you were basically just bossing me around.

“I was working so hard for the cause, but I did get to see the amazing work you do.”

“You made me a nice cup of tea, which was good, “Nick joked.

Gethin replied, “I made you three coffees before you said, ‘I don’t drink coffee’.”

Nick laughed, “At least we didn’t send you out for a skirting board ladder, which is the normal thing we do.

“So it was a great build. It was a phenomenal build. And actually teaming up with you guys and having you come down, but also being able to put out the message each day and get the volunteers in when we needed them, really worked well.

“And essentially, we managed to pull it off in 12 days. We built a building that was 12 months’ worth of building.”

Gethin added, “And for the two weeks, everyone’s just saying ‘this is never going to happen’. And then somehow, as always, they deliver.”

Interrupting the chat, Gaby said, “And then we’ve got some really big news as well, because you are back, DIY SOS next week, the third of October. You’ve been away too long.”

Addressing his break, the presenter shared, “Yeah, I think it’s about a year and a half, two years, something that we’ve actually been off the screens.

“Yeah, you lose track of time, don’t you? But we’re back bigger and better than before.”

“Massive builds, wonderful families, amazing communities. It’s amazing after 26 years and something like 25 million pounds worth of buildings.”

He added, “I think in the new series, you get to see behind the scenes and some of the stresses involved.”

BBC Morning Live airs weekdays at 9.30am on BBC One.
