The “Spider-Man” actor’s fans hailed Holland for his candid response.

Tom Holland is being hailed by fans on the internet after he kindly corrected a journalist who mistakenly referred to Zendaya as his “girlfriend.” In a now-viral X video that’s been making its rounds on social media, Holland appeared onstage at a recent press event. After an off-camera reporter told him, “I brought my daughter, and she got to meet your girlfriend,” Holland delivered an adorable response.
With a laugh, the “Spider-Man” star interjected to remind her of his upcoming nuptials to Zendaya. “Fiancée,” he replied candidly in the clip posted Monday.

Holland’s remark appears to be the first time he’s broken his silence on his engagement to Zendaya, whom he’s been romantically linked to since 2021, since the news broke in January that the pair would be tying the knot. Holland reportedly popped the question between Christmas and New Year’s at one of Zendaya’s family homes. While Zendaya and Holland have remained largely hush-hush about their impending big day, the “Euphoria” star has been seen sporting her engagement ring on multiple occasions, including at the Golden Globes and the Met Gala earlier this year.

Zendaya has yet to publicly address her engagement to Holland. When a Los Angeles Times reporter asked Zendaya if she was engaged after spotting her ring at the Golden Globes, the “Dune” star coyly smiled, held up her ring and shrugged.

Holland’s dad, however, confirmed the couples’ engagement in January.

“Tom, as you know by now, was very incredibly well prepared,” his dad said. “He had purchased a ring. He had spoken with her father and gained permission to propose to his daughter. Tom had everything planned out… When, where, how, what to say, what to wear.”

Meanwhile, Zendaya showed off her engagement ring again on Tuesday while attending the Louis Vuitton Womenswear Spring/Summer 2026 show at Paris Fashion Week.

As far as what the “Challengers” actor and the Marvel star have planned for their wedding, Zendaya’s longtime stylist Law Roach told E! News in July that “the process hasn’t even started yet.”

“Zendaya is working on so many movies. She’s now filming the next iteration of ‘Dune,’ so she’s away doing that. It’s so many movies, so we have time. We have a lot of time,” Roach added.

Zendaya previously opened up about why she chooses to keep her relationship with Holland relatively private.

“Parts of my life, I accept, are going to be public,” she told Elle Magazine in August 2023. “I can’t not be a person and live my life and love the person I love. But also, I do have control over what I choose to share.”

Noting that “it’s about protecting the peace and letting things be your own but also not being afraid to exist,” Zendaya added, “You can’t hide. That’s not fun, either. I am navigating it more than ever now.”
