Liverpool’s youth squads got their new season underway this weekend with a mix of highs, lows, and jaw-dropping moments that left fans buzzing.
Under-21s: A Tough Start
In the first game of the season, Liverpool Under-21s fell 4-2 to Leicester City, despite bright spots from forwards Jayden Danns and Michael Laffey, who both found the back of the net.

The match also marked competitive debuts for summer signings Armin Pecsi and Will Wright, while Calvin Ramsay featured prominently, showing glimpses of his attacking flair.
Although the result wasn’t ideal, coaches and supporters will take encouragement from the youngsters’ determination and individual moments of quality, which hint at a promising season ahead.
Under-18s: Goals, Style, and Halfway-Line Magic
Meanwhile, Liverpool Under-18s put on a dazzling display in their opening fixture, crushing Stoke City 5-1. The game had it all: a mix of precision, power, and pure audacity.
Josh Sonni-Lambie stunned spectators with a sensational strike from the halfway line, leaving the goalkeeper rooted to the spot.
Joe Bradshaw showcased his set-piece prowess with a pinpoint free-kick.
Goals from DJ Esdaille and Finn Inglethorpe, along with a Stoke own goal, completed the emphatic scoreline.
The Under-18s performance highlighted Liverpool’s rich pipeline of talent, with several players standing out as potential stars for the first team in the coming years.
New Signings Make Their Mark
The first competitive appearances of Armin Pecsi and Will Wright for the Under-21s were promising. Both players showed glimpses of what they could offer to the squad, from quick link-up play to intelligent positioning. While they couldn’t secure a win, the experience will be invaluable as the season progresses.
