BBC Breakfast’s business and consumer presenter Nina Warhurst has landed a permanent role on another flagship BBC show – and fans have been quick to praise the appointment
BBC Breakfast’s Nina Warhurst is set for fresh horizons as she takes on a permanent position with the News at One from April 2025.
The exciting career move was announced via social media by Richard Frediani, editor of BBC Breakfast and News at One, on Monday, 10 March. “Delighted to welcome Nina Warhurst as a regular presenter of the News at One from April. Congratulations – a brilliant addition to the team in Salford,” he posted, supplementing his words with a picture of Nina.
Nina is gearing up to fill the shoes of Anna Foster, who has been at the helm of News at One since May 2024. Anna is making a transition to become a leading voice on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme after the departure of Mishal Husain this past December.

Richard’s announcement saw an outpouring of well-wishes and congrats for the business and consumer journalist who made her mark on BBC Breakfast.
Supporters praised the decision, with remarks such as “Excellent appointment – Anna a hard act to follow on the One as she’s been brilliant, but Nina’s got similar qualities of being a top journalist and so warm and friendly,” and compliments like “Congratulations Nina!” and “That’s awesome! She does a fab job on BBC Breakfast, great at her job, tons of personality, charisma, talent and she’s a #MUFC Fan like me.”
Another fan added: “Brilliant! She’s a top notch journalist and seems like a lovely person.”
Some fans expressed concern that Nina might not return to Breakfast, with one querying: “Does this mean she won’t be on Breakfast anymore?” Another echoed the sentiment, asking: “Does that mean no more Sundays?” while another posted: “Congrats, no more breakfast shows then? [crying emoji.”

Nina’s journey with the BBC began in 2010 when she took up the role of a regional news presenter on East Midlands Today. She later moved to BBC North West, where she presented BBC North West Tonight and Sunday Politics North West.
Subsequently, Nina was appointed as the political editor at BBC North West. Her stint with BBC Breakfast started on a freelance basis, stepping in for absent hosts. In 2020, she assumed the role of the programme’s main business presenter, succeeding Steph McGovern.
Last year saw Nina making her debut on the BBC’s News at One.
