In a bombshell interview that has left the nation reeling, Our Yorkshire Farm stars Amanda and Clive Owen have finally spoken the words millions never wanted to hear: their 22-year marriage is over, and the cracks began long before the cameras stopped rolling.
Sitting side-by-side in the same stone farmhouse where they once raised nine children and captivated 4 million viewers, Clive, 70, looked broken as he delivered the confession that will haunt Ravenseat forever.
“I resented her success,” he admitted, voice barely above a whisper. “Amanda became this global phenomenon, the Yorkshire Shepherdess, books flying off shelves, TV deals, magazine covers… and I was still the same old farmer fixing walls in the mud. Somewhere along the line I started feeling like I was just ‘Amanda Owen’s husband’. I hated myself for it, but I couldn’t stop it eating away at me.”
Amanda, 50, eyes red from crying, reached for his hand as she confirmed the rumour that has swirled for two years: yes, there WAS someone else.
“After we separated, I did find comfort with somebody else,” she said quietly. “It wasn’t some wild affair while we were together, no matter what the papers printed. Clive and I had been struggling for years. We were living separate lives under the same roof. But I won’t deny it: there is now a man who makes me smile again. His name is Robert, he’s a divorced farmer from Teesdale, and he’s been nothing but kind and patient while I pick up the pieces.”
The revelation has stunned fans who watched the couple battle blizzards, lambings, and teenage rebellions with unbreakable teamwork on Channel 5’s smash-hit series. But behind the scenes, the pressure of fame had already torn them apart.
Clive continued, voice cracking: “I’d see her on breakfast TV sofas in London while I was knee-deep in sheep muck at 4 a.m. I was proud, of course I was, but I felt… left behind. We stopped talking properly. I’d make stupid digs about her ‘posh book tours’. She’d snap that I didn’t understand how hard it was to be away from the kids. We became strangers sharing a kettle.”
Amanda wiped away tears as she revealed the final straw: “In 2022, after we finished filming the last series, Clive told me he couldn’t do it anymore. He said, ‘I love you, but I don’t know who we are when the cameras aren’t here.’ I begged him to try counselling, but he’d already made his mind up. We told the children together. Raven, 23 now, just hugged us both and said, ‘As long as you’re both happy, we’ll be happy.’ I’ve never felt so proud and so broken at the same time.”
The couple insist they remain best friends and co-parents. Clive has moved into a cottage two miles down the dale, but he’s back at Ravenseat every day helping with the farm. Their nine children, aged 8 to 23, split their time between both homes.
“We still sit down for Sunday lunch as a family,” Amanda smiled through tears. “Clive carves the lamb, I do the Yorkshire puddings, the kids argue over who gets the crispy bits, just like always. The only difference is we don’t share a bedroom anymore.”
Clive managed a sad laugh: “I told her the other week, ‘You’ve still got the best welly collection in Yorkshire, woman.’ She threw one at me. Some things never change.”
As for the future, Amanda has no plans to leave Ravenseat, “This is our children’s heritage. I’ll be here until I’m carried out in a box.” Clive says he’s slowly learning to live without the woman he calls “the strongest, most infuriating, most incredible person I’ve ever known.”
And in a moment that reduced both of them to tears, Clive looked straight into the camera and said: “I’m sorry, Amanda. I should have celebrated you instead of resenting you. You didn’t just make our farm famous, you made my life extraordinary. I hope this Robert fella knows how lucky he is. And I hope one day you’ll forgive me.”
Amanda simply leaned over, kissed his cheek, and whispered: “There’s nothing to forgive, love. We had 22 incredible years. That’s more than most people ever get.”
The Yorkshire Shepherdess and her shepherd have closed the gate on their marriage, but they’ve left it unlocked for friendship, family, and the wild Dales wind that brought them together all those years ago.
Sometimes love doesn’t end in hate. Sometimes it just quietly changes shape.
