Yesterday, TMZ was first to report that the actor and musician had separated, with multiple sources claiming that they had lived separately since the beginning of the summer. A source then told People that Nicole “didn’t want this,” and that she was “fighting to save the marriage.”

After TMZ first broke the news, BuzzFeed has obtained court documents that confirm Nicole filed for divorce from Keith earlier today. Their date of separation is also listed as today, Sept. 30.

“Irreconcilable differences” are given as the reason for divorce, with Nicole stating that she should be “named primary residential parent of the minor children.”

A marital dissolution agreement, signed by both Keith and Nicole, has also been filed. It confirms neither party will pay spousal support or alimony to the other. The document was notarized yesterday, Sept. 30.

Nicole and Keith have also signed a parenting plan, under which their children will live with Nicole as their primary residence. Keith will have the kids every other weekend and has “already prepaid all child support obligations owed.” It’s worth noting that Keith signed as early as late August, suggesting that the process has been ongoing for some weeks.
