Prince William and Kate Middleton’s only daughter Princess Charlotte – who stole the spotlight at the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 final (England Vs Spain) in Switzerland – was not included in the Court Circular update.
The Court Circular is the British royal family’s official record of previous royal engagements and is usually refreshed online about one day after an appearance is made.
It was Charlotte’s first public appearance at a game for England’s women’s national team, but the sweet Princess’ name was missing from the royal family’s official record of past outings.
William appeared at the game in his role as patron of the Football Association, English soccer’s governing body, and brought Charlotte in a surprise appearance.
While Princess Charlotte was by Prince William’s side throughout the thrilling clash, where England beat Spain 3-1 on penalties, her name likely wasn’t listed for the simple reason that she is not considered to be a working royal.
“The Prince of Wales, Patron, the Football Association, having been received at EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg by His Majesty’s Consul-General for the Swiss Confederation and the Principality of Liechtenstein (Mr. Richard Shackleton), this evening attended the Union of European Football Associations Women’s Euro Final between England and Spain at St. Jakob-Park, Basel, Switzerland,” said the July 27 entry, which referred to William by his Prince of Wales title.
The Prince and Princess of Wales’ only daughter might embrace that commitment one day as an adult, but for now, she and her brothers, Prince George, 12, and Prince Louis, 7, are focused on their studies.
The children’s names were included in the entries from Buckingham Palace about the royal family’s appearances at Trooping the Colour on June 14 and events commemorating the 80th anniversary of VE Day on May 5.
However, George and Charlotte’s names were not listed in the July 13 log from Kensington Palace about the Wimbledon Championships. While Prince George and Princess Charlotte joined their parents that day to see the men’s singles final of the tennis tournament, their names were not included in the Court Circular summary of the outing.
Just like Charlotte’s soccer Sunday with William, George and Charlotte’s attendance at Wimbledon was not announced in advance.
“Princess Charlotte’s name was not in the log as to give a delightful surprise to royal fans,” a source close the Palace has claimed.
