Patrick Christys and Emily Carver have appeared on The People’s Channel today to introduce a new addition to the GB News family.
In a heartwarming moment, the new parents gave an update on family life, as Emily shared all the details about the birth of baby George Christys.
The couple looked relaxed and happy as they reflected on their first few weeks of parenthood, with Patrick saying he was “so proud” of his wife during the birth.
George Alexander Peter Christys was born in the early hours of Friday, September 5, and the pair have been taking a short break from the screen since.
Returning to Britain’s News Channel for the first time since the birth, Emily said: “I was induced a little bit early because they were worried that maybe he was measuring a little small, so they wanted to get him out.
“It was very, very painful indeed. But I did finally get an epidural towards the end. He weighed six and a half pounds.”
Patrick said: “I was in awe of Emily. She basically did all of it on two paracetamol until right in the end. It was incredible.
“It was amazing to watch and just to be there, I felt very sorry for you.”
He added: “We should thank, and want to thank, all of the GB News viewers and listeners who’ve been sending us stuff.
“We don’t have to buy a single item of clothing for that six months. It’s fantastic. So keep it coming everybody.”Asked when he plans to return to work, Patrick said: “We’ve got the America launch this evening so I’m gonna be doing my nine PM till midnight show, but then I’m back off again until Friday.
“I’m back properly from Friday. So we’re gonna find out. But I do think that I’m probably gonna have to stop rampaging around northern France and doing some of the reports I was doing over there and maybe just keep it local.”
Emily also shared he gratitude to the people who helped her in the hospital, and said that she had team of midwives “cheering her on”.
“The staff were amazing. I had three midwives all cheering me on saying ‘push, push, push.’
“My mother was there too supervising. We all felt like we had medical knowledge, saying, ‘I need another paracetamol,’ and thinking, ‘I’m not doing this, it’s very difficult.’
“I resisted the urge to get on the gas and air, we really lucked out.
“We were in the labour ward, the baby arrived, all well and healthy, and then they said, ‘Oh, we actually have a private room downstairs in the birthing centre you can use.’”
