“Bras are older than you think, and I don’t mean just my bra,” said Ripa

Kelly Ripa doesn’t care if she’s a morning talk show host — she’ll bring any conversation to the breakfast table.

During the Wednesday, Aug. 13, edition of Live with Kelly and Mark, the talk show host, 54, hilariously transitioned the conversation from a shoutout to her childhood friend in honor of National Left-Handers Day to bra talk.

“Bras, bras, everyone,” she declared, while taking a peek at her notes. “Bras are older than you think, and I don’t mean just my bra. I mean bras.”

After her co-host (and husband), Mark Consuelos asked what the average age of her bras is, Ripa joked, “thousands of years” because “they don’t get a big workout.”

“I’m not asking a lot of them, if you know what I’m saying. You know what I mean? Basically, I wear a bra to hold my microphone on,” she said while pointing to her back as the audience laughed. “That is why I wear a bra, not to hold anything else, because there’s nothing else there.”

She then said, “I don’t care if you’re offended. Shut it!” causing even more laughter. “That is why I wear a bra, just to put a microphone on. So, I don’t ask a lot.”

Consuelos, 54, joked that he “used to like the ones that had the little snaps in the front,” prompting Ripa to say that he was “very good” at handling them.

“I was so impressed. I was like ‘wow’ and I mean this guy knows his way around a bra,” said Ripa. Consuelos then quipped that nowadays Ripa’s bras are more like a “tank top.”

The segment ended with Ripa reading research about the history of bras.

During the Tuesday, July 15, episode of the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, Ripa expressed that she has had consultations with surgeons for a breast augmentation, but ultimately has not gone through with any surgery over fear of potential complications.

“I have no boobs. We know that I’m flat-chested. It’s not a mystery at this point. It’s almost a point of pride,” she said.
