A former music teacher in Western Australia has pleaded guilty to multiple charges connected to misconduct involving a student, according to authorities. Naomi Tekea Craig, 33, who previously worked at Frederick Irwin Anglican School in Mandurah, entered a guilty plea on January 27, 2026, to 15 charges related to the case. The development follows an investigation that examined allegations involving a male former student.
According to investigators, the incidents began in August 2024 when the student was 12 years old. Authorities say the conduct continued over an extended period until December 2025, when the boy was 13. The case later came to the attention of law enforcement, prompting a formal investigation that eventually resulted in criminal charges being filed.
Police said the investigation revealed additional details earlier this year. Authorities confirmed that Craig gave birth to a child on January 8, 2026. DNA testing later determined that the child was fathered by the student involved in the case. Investigators said the DNA results played a significant role in confirming key aspects of the allegations.

At the time the offenses occurred, Craig was reportedly married and had a young child of her own. Officials have not disclosed further personal details related to the family situation but confirmed that the circumstances surrounding the case drew increased scrutiny as the investigation progressed.
Court records show that Craig initially faced a smaller number of charges when the case first came to light. However, as investigators reviewed evidence and gathered additional information, prosecutors added further counts. In total, Craig ultimately pleaded guilty to 15 charges connected to misconduct involving the minor.
Cases involving misconduct in educational environments often require extensive investigation. Authorities typically conduct interviews with individuals connected to the situation, examine communication records, and analyze any available physical or digital evidence. Law enforcement agencies may also coordinate with child protection authorities during such investigations.
The case has raised broader discussions about student safety and safeguarding policies in schools. Educational institutions in many countries have implemented strict procedures designed to protect students and ensure appropriate boundaries between staff and minors. Experts say incidents like this often lead to reviews of existing policies and training procedures.
Officials have not yet announced sentencing details in the case. The legal process will continue as the court considers the outcome and any penalties that may follow the guilty plea. Authorities say the case remains an example of how investigations can evolve over time as new evidence becomes available.
Law enforcement officials emphasize the importance of reporting concerns involving minors so that allegations can be investigated promptly. They say cooperation between schools, families, and authorities plays a key role in ensuring the safety and well-being of students in educational settings.
