A soon-to-be grandfather has been identified as one of the survivors of the deadly avalanche near Lake Tahoe, California last week that left nine people dead.

Jim Hamilton was one of six survivors rescued nearly six hours after the snowslide caught a group of 15 skiers, including a group of six โ€œsuper momsโ€ and four guides, who were backcountry skiing atย Castle Peak.

โ€œI thought I had lost you forever,โ€ his wife Beth Hamiltonย wrote in a Facebook post Friday. โ€œThe not knowing whether you survived was a pain I cannot put into words.โ€

The family called his survival a โ€œmiracle,โ€ saying his life was โ€œspared.โ€

The Hamilton daughters are welcoming grandchildren this year, according to the Facebook post.

โ€œWe are all so lucky to continue sharing this amazing life with you, J-Pa, and having our family complete,โ€ Beth wrote. โ€œI canโ€™t imagine it any other way. My love, my GOAT โ€” welcome home.โ€

On Thursday, theย Nevada County Sheriffโ€™s Officeย released the identities of all the victims.

The family of the six women killed also broke silence, naming the group of friends who perished in the avalanche.

Carrie Atkin, Kate Morse, Danielle Keatley, Caroline Sekar, Kate Vitt and Liz Claubaugh all died Tuesday in the tragic event, and their loved ones united toย release a statement Thursday.

The guiding company that led the tour,ย Blackbird Mountain Guides, also released a statement identifying the โ€œdevastating lossโ€ of guides Andrew Alissandratos, Niki Choo and Mike Henry.

Aย vigil was held in the historic downtown of Truckeeย to mourn those who died.

In her Facebook post, Beth shared that her husband Jim described them as โ€œwonderful people who lived life to its fullest.โ€

โ€œThere are no words big enough for the sorrow I feel for the families who are grieving an unimaginable loss,โ€ Beth wrote of the nine tragic deaths.
