Eighteen-year-old Florida high-school senior and cheerleader Anna Kepner was found dead aboard the Carnival Horizon cruise ship on November 7, 2025 — her body discovered concealed under a bed in her cabin, wrapped in a blanket and partially covered with life vests.

As the investigation continues, no charges have yet been filed. But Anna’s aunt, Krystal Wright, has broken her silence — and shared a plea for justice, describing what she believes were her niece’s final, desperate moments.

Family’s Pain, and the Call for Answers

According to Wright, the family remains in turmoil. She said she is convinced that Anna “fought for her life” in her final moments. “I know Anna fought. I know she fought for her life, so it’s rough. It’s rough,” Wright reportedly told media. Fox

The pain is compounded by frustration: despite her death being ruled a homicide (due to mechanical asphyxiation), and a 16-year-old stepbrother being named in court documents as a person of interest, no one has been formally charged. Wright and other family members say that if he’s under suspicion, it remains unclear why there’s been no arrest. “We don’t understand why, if the boy is a suspect, why has he not been charged yet? What’s happening there?” Wright asked.

The Tragic Sequence of Events

On November 2, Anna — together with her father, stepmother, siblings including a 16-year-old stepbrother, and grandparents — boarded the Carnival Horizon for a six-night Caribbean cruise.

On the night of November 6, Anna reportedly felt unwell and returned to the cabin early. She was last seen alive that evening.

The next morning, a housekeeper discovered Anna’s body hidden under the bed, wrapped in a blanket and covered with life jackets.

The medical examiner later ruled her death a homicide, citing mechanical asphyxiation — indicating she had been suffocated.

Suspicion, Investigation and the Lack of Charges

Court documents in a separate custody dispute surfaced during the investigation, naming Anna’s 16-year-old stepbrother as a potential suspect.

Investigators, including the FBI, reportedly are reviewing security-camera footage, cabin-access logs, and other evidence to piece together what happened — but have not publicly announced charges.

Wright’s public plea reflects the family’s anger and confusion: they want clarity, answers, and justice — not silence and delay.

What the Family Remembers — and What remains Unknown

Friends and relatives remember Anna as a bright, energetic young woman. She was a straight-A student and a varsity cheerleader who dreamt of a future in the military.

One court filing revealed that the stepbrother had previously exhibited behavior that made Anna uncomfortable, including an alleged incident where he tried to get on top of her during a video call — a detail that has heightened concerns among family and investigators.

But many questions remain unanswered: Why were two teenagers sharing a cabin on a family cruise? What happened between the last time Anna was seen alive and the moment her body was discovered? Why no arrests yet — even though her death has been ruled a homicide?

Until investigators conclude their work, the family — and the public — are left waiting.
