Authorities in Enterprise have announced devastating developments in the investigation into the disappearance of two-year-old Genesis Nova Reid. During a press conference, law enforcement officials confirmed that the child is believed to have been killed on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025. Her mother, Adrienne Reid, has now been formally charged with Capital Murder and Abuse of a Corpse following weeks of intensive investigation by multiple agencies.
The case initially began on February 16, 2026, when Adrienne Reid reported to police that her daughter had disappeared from their apartment on Apache Drive. According to the report given to authorities, the child had allegedly gone missing during the night. Detectives from local law enforcement immediately began investigating the claim. However, officials say that inconsistencies in the mother’s statements quickly raised concerns among investigators, prompting them to begin examining the situation more closely.
As the investigation progressed, detectives reviewed surveillance footage from nearby residences and businesses in the apartment complex area. According to investigators, video captured late on the night of December 25 appears to show Adrienne Reid walking toward a dumpster at the apartment complex around 11:30 p.m. In the footage, she is reportedly seen pulling a rolling duffel bag behind her.

Authorities say that two days later, additional surveillance footage shows Reid returning to the same dumpster area carrying items believed to belong to the child. Investigators believe that Genesis was placed inside the duffel bag and discarded in the dumpster shortly after her death. This evidence became a key part of the case that eventually led to the charges announced by prosecutors.
At this time, Genesis Nova Reid has not yet been located. Investigators explained that the dumpster used in the apartment complex was emptied on December 26, 2025. Its contents were transported through several stages of waste processing before ultimately arriving at the Coffee County Landfill.
Using truck schedules, GPS tracking data, and landfill records, investigators were able to determine the potential location where the contents of that dumpster may have been deposited. Officials say the suspected search zone within the landfill covers approximately 200 feet by 100 feet and may reach depths of up to 10 feet.
Authorities have warned that the search operation will be extremely complex and time-consuming. Officials estimate the process could take ten weeks or longer because of the enormous volume of waste material that must be carefully examined by search teams. Specialized equipment and trained personnel will be required to sift through the landfill while preserving any possible evidence.
Investigators also revealed the extraordinary scale of the work involved in the case so far. More than 8,000 investigative hours have been logged since the report was first made. Law enforcement agencies have executed 37 search warrants and followed nearly 100 leads while examining more than five terabytes of digital and physical evidence. The investigation has also extended beyond Alabama, with authorities coordinating efforts across several states.
Prosecutors allege that after Genesis was killed, Adrienne Reid carried out a prolonged effort to conceal the crime. According to investigators, the child was reported missing more than 50 days after her death. Officials say the delay in reporting the disappearance complicated the investigation but ultimately did not prevent detectives from reconstructing the timeline of events.
The announcement of the charges came on a particularly emotional date. March 9, 2026, would have marked Genesis Nova Reid’s third birthday. Instead of celebrating with family, cake, and candles, the community is now mourning the loss of a young life taken far too soon.
As the investigation continues and the search operation prepares to begin, authorities say their goal is to locate Genesis and ensure that justice is served. Community members have expressed their grief and support for the family members and loved ones who cared deeply for the child.
For many residents, the case has become a painful reminder of how fragile life can be and how devastating such tragedies are for families and communities alike. While the legal process moves forward, people across the region continue to remember Genesis Nova Reid and hope that the search will eventually bring the answers that her loved ones deserve.
