Authorities in Boone County, Kentucky have confirmed the recovery of the body of 9-year-old Jenny Din following an intensive search effort that lasted more than a day. The young girl, who was described as autistic and nonverbal, had been reported missing after she was last seen walking along Macintosh Lane in Florence on the evening of Friday, March 13.
According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, Jenny was last observed around 5:30 p.m. that evening. When she could not be located, authorities quickly launched a large-scale search operation involving law enforcement officers, volunteers, and multiple emergency response teams.
The search continued for hours as crews combed through nearby neighborhoods, wooded areas, and bodies of water in the surrounding region. Officials said the effort involved coordination between several agencies working together to locate the missing child as quickly as possible.

Late the following evening, search teams made a tragic discovery. The Hamilton County Underwater Search and Recovery Unit located Jenny’s body in a pond near the area where she had last been seen. According to officials, the discovery was made at approximately 7:30 p.m., bringing the search operation to a somber conclusion.
Authorities reported that the recovery occurred after approximately 25 hours of coordinated search efforts. Members of law enforcement, emergency personnel, and volunteers had worked continuously throughout that period, focusing on areas near the child’s last known location.
Officials from the sheriff’s office emphasized that the investigation into the circumstances surrounding Jenny’s death remains ongoing. At this stage, authorities have not publicly confirmed the exact cause of death, and further details are expected to come after additional examination and investigative work.
An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the official cause of death. As investigators continue reviewing the situation, local officials have expressed condolences to Jenny’s family and the community. The tragedy has deeply affected residents in the area, many of whom participated in the search efforts in hopes of bringing the young girl home safely.
