“They don’t know us — but they judge us.”
That is how the son of Jacques Moretti and Jessica Moretti, the owners of Le Constellation, describes life since the devastating tragedy in Crans-Montana.
For weeks, his family has remained largely silent as investigations into the deadly incident continue. Now, for the first time, he is speaking — not to defend, not to accuse, but to describe the human fallout unfolding far beyond police reports and official statements.
According to him, the fire did not just trigger an investigation. It ignited a wave of public judgment that arrived swiftly, emotionally, and without restraint.
“They call my parents monsters,” he said. “And once that word is out there, it never really leaves.”

A Family Under Scrutiny
The son says the moment news of the tragedy spread, his family’s life changed overnight. Online platforms filled with speculation, accusations, and moral verdicts long before investigators could establish facts.
He describes watching strangers dissect his parents’ lives — their decisions, their character, their intentions — based solely on headlines and fragments of information.
“People speak with certainty,” he said. “As if they were there. As if they know everything.”
While authorities have repeatedly stated that the investigation remains ongoing, he says public opinion has already reached conclusions.
“There’s no ‘allegedly’ online,” he added. “There’s only judgment.”
The Weight of Public Hatred
According to the son, the hate has not been abstract. It has been personal, direct, and relentless.
Messages. Comments. Threats. Accusations delivered by people who have never met his parents, never spoken to them, and never stepped inside their home.
He says his parents — already grappling with shock and grief — now face an additional burden: being dehumanized in real time.
“They’re not seen as people anymore,” he said. “They’re symbols. Targets.”
He describes evenings where his parents sit in silence, phones turned off, avoiding the outside world not out of guilt, but out of exhaustion.
“The pressure is constant,” he said. “You feel it even when no one is speaking.”
Between Grief and Judgment
The son is careful in his words. He acknowledges the seriousness of the tragedy and the pain experienced by victims and their families.
“There are lives lost. That matters more than anything,” he said.
But he insists that grief does not justify abandoning restraint.
“There’s a difference between mourning and condemning,” he said. “One seeks truth. The other just seeks someone to blame.”
He explains that his family has never attempted to interfere with the investigation and is cooperating fully with authorities.
“What we want is clarity,” he said. “Not chaos.”
Living in the Space of Uncertainty
Legal experts often describe high-profile tragedies as unfolding in two parallel arenas: the justice system and the court of public opinion. The son says his family is trapped in the latter.
“You’re waiting for answers,” he said. “But while you wait, the world decides who you are.”
He describes the emotional toll of living in uncertainty — not knowing how the investigation will conclude, but knowing that reputations may already be irreparably damaged.
“There’s no reset button,” he said. “Even if facts come out later, the damage is done.”
The Cost Beyond Headlines
What troubles him most, he says, is how rarely the human consequences of public outrage are acknowledged.
“No report measures what this does to a family,” he said. “There’s no statistic for fear. Or shame. Or isolation.”
Friends have pulled away, unsure of what to say. Familiar places feel hostile. Ordinary moments carry the weight of suspicion.
“You start questioning every interaction,” he said. “Are they talking about us? Are they judging us?”
A Plea for Restraint
The son says his decision to speak out was not easy. Silence once felt safer. But eventually, he felt it was necessary to remind the public that investigations exist for a reason.
“Facts take time,” he said. “Truth isn’t instant.”
He urges people to resist the urge to turn tragedy into certainty before evidence is fully examined.
“You don’t have to defend us,” he said. “Just wait.”
Waiting for the Truth
As authorities continue their work, the Moretti family remains in a state of suspension — grieving, scrutinized, and uncertain of what comes next.
The son says his family is not asking for sympathy, only humanity.
“Judge when it’s time to judge,” he said. “Not before.”
Behind the headlines, he says, is a family struggling to endure a moment that will define their lives — regardless of the investigation’s outcome.
“They don’t know us,” he repeated. “But they judge us anyway.”
