As King Charles III and Queen Camilla prepare for a high-profile state visit to the United States on April 27, 2026, to commemorate the 250th anniversary of American independence, a prominent lawyer representing multiple Jeffrey Epstein survivors has issued a direct and emotional plea for the monarch to meet with victims.
Gloria Allred, speaking exclusively to GB News, urged the King to make “even a gesture” toward the survivors of the late convicted sex offender and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell. “I’m sure that they would love it if he made even a gesture to meet with them,” Allred said. “I represent a number of Epstein survivors, and all I can say is I don’t understand why he can’t meet with them.”
The plea comes after Democratic Congressman Ro Khanna formally requested a private session between the King and Epstein survivors during the Washington DC leg of the visit. Khanna argued that the transnational nature of Epstein’s crimes and the involvement of high-profile British figures demanded what he described as a “gesture of accountability” from the head of state.
According to GB News, the palace has indicated that King Charles will be unable to meet with the survivors due to “active police investigations” in the United Kingdom and the legal complexities surrounding the Epstein case’s British connections, making such a meeting “impossible at this time.”
Allred, however, pressed for clarity on the refusal. “What is the legal reason? Who gave him that legal reason?” she asked. “Are the police in London and Metropolitan Police asking him not to meet with the victims? Or is it just a PR reason why he is not willing to meet with the victims perhaps?” She added that she could understand concerns about being questioned on former Prince Andrew (now Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor), but questioned whether a legal barrier truly exists.
The veteran attorney noted that the King and Queen Camilla have previously expressed sympathy and support for the victims in public statements. “If he’s done that, a demonstration of support rather than just words would be, I think, appropriate,” she said. Allred has been calling since 2019 for Andrew to testify or speak with US law enforcement and Congress, a demand she reiterated in light of the King’s upcoming trip.
During the GB News interview, host Ben Leo pushed back, arguing that the matter has “nothing to do with” the King and defending his actions toward his brother. “In the King’s defence, he kicked him out of Royal Lodge, he stripped him of his titles, he’s pretty much banished him. I don’t see what more he could have done. He released a statement saying his thoughts are with the victims.”
Allred disagreed, emphasizing that actions beyond words could carry significant meaning for survivors. She also questioned whether the King might possess information relevant to any potential charges, though no such claims were substantiated.
The controversy highlights the ongoing shadow cast by the Epstein scandal over the British monarchy, particularly regarding Andrew’s past association with Epstein. Andrew has denied wrongdoing, settled a civil lawsuit with Virginia Giuffre (who accused him of sexual abuse, which he denies), and faced further scrutiny including an arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office related to his time as UK trade envoy.
King Charles has taken decisive steps against his brother in recent years, including removing his HRH style, military titles, and royal patronages, and facilitating his departure from Royal Lodge. Andrew now lives at Wood Farm on the Sandringham Estate under the name Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and remains largely out of the public eye.
The King’s US visit is expected to focus on strengthening bilateral ties, but the Epstein-related plea has added an uncomfortable layer of scrutiny. No official response from Buckingham Palace has been detailed beyond the reported inability to arrange the meeting due to ongoing UK investigations.
For the survivors represented by Allred and others, the call is for more than symbolism — it is for visible recognition of their suffering at the highest level. Whether the King can or will respond in any form during the trip remains to be seen, but Allred’s straightforward question — “I don’t understand why he can’t” — has already sparked widespread discussion about royal accountability, public gestures, and the limits of royal engagement with sensitive international scandals.
As preparations for the state visit continue, this latest development serves as a reminder that the Epstein case, despite Epstein’s death in 2019, continues to reverberate across borders and institutions, including the British monarchy.
