Queen Camilla turned Princess Diana’s ‘heirloom’ wedding present into a new piece for her collection

Queen Camilla reportedly redesigned a valuable heirloom belonging to Princess Diana.

The stunning necklace originally was gifted to Diana when she wed Charles in 1981. Now, Camilla has made some changes.

On July 29, 1981, Princess Diana stole hearts when she walked down the aisle donning a silk-and-taffeta ball gown with an unforgettable 25-foot train.

The blushing bride paired her gorgeous David and Elizabeth Emanuel dress with a family heirloom, a diamond-encrusted tiara, dubbed The Spencer Tiara.

In addition to her show-stopping jewels and pearl-encrusted dress, Diana also received a slew of precious gifts to celebrate the day. The number of wedding gifts reportedly included a special necklace from the Queen Mother, Charles’ grandmother.

The necklace featured diamonds and emeralds and was originally part of Queen Alexandra’s 1863 collection, according to experts at Steven Stone.

The Queen Mother’s ‘gift’ to Diana

During the year of Diana and Charles’ spellbinding royal wedding, the Queen Mother gifted it to Diana.

Five years later, while at a gala at the Vienna Burgh Theatre, Diana sported the piece and paired it with a long-sleeve sequinned number.

The princess also was said to have worn the necklace on a trip to Toronto, where she and Charles attended a dinner at The Royal York Hotel.

After Diana’s tragic and untimely death in 1997, the necklace became part of the Royal Collection.

Since then, it has reportedly been revealed that Queen Camilla had redesigned the piece into a brooch.

In 2019, Camilla wore the altered piece. She attached it to her jacket dress whilst celebrating Charles’ 50th anniversary as the Prince of Wales.

The brooch complimented her look, which she complimented with a string of pearls.

Princess Kate has also been photographed wearing the piece.

In 2022, Kate sported a fascinator and a maroon outfit, complimented with the brooch, for the Horse Guards Parade.

Experts estimate that the brooch is worth over £98k or $134k.

Jaw-dropping price of Princess Diana’s wedding present

“This remarkable brooch features approximately four carats of white diamonds, arranged in 18 individual stones, and is crowned by a breathtaking three-carat cabochon-cut green emerald pendant,” Maxwell Stone penned.

“Once worn as a necklace by Princess Diana, the piece carries not only aesthetic brilliance but deep royal significance.”

The brooch also features a nod to Charles and William.

It has three diamond-encrusted ostrich feathers, reflecting the emblem of the Prince of Wales.

On her wedding day, Diana wore a number of jewels.

She borrowed her mother’s diamond earrings, made up of a central pear-shaped diamond surrounded by around 50 smaller diamonds.

The gold for the princess’ wedding band followed royal tradition.

It was made from one of the last soft nuggets of Welsh gold mined at Clogau St David’s gold mine.

The same gold nugget made the wedding bands of the Queen Mother, Queen Elizabeth, Princess Margaret, Princess Anne, and a number of other royals.

The band was engraved on the inside with the words: “I Love You, Diana.”
