Moviegoers remember Diane Keaton for her roles in Annie Hall and Father of the Bride, but her last Instagram snapshot might be one of the sweetest aspects of the late actress’ life.
On April 11, Keaton was spotted in a post for the San Francisco home goods store, Hudson Grace. She paired with the lifestyle brand in 2024 to bring her flair for design to life. In addition to home decor and tableware, she created dog beds and treats in honor of her sweet rescue pup, Reggie. The dynamic duo was spotted together in her final Instagram post.
The image was shared on National Pet Day and showed Keaton smiling broadly at Reggie, who was excited by her puppy treats. “Proof our pets have great taste too! Happy National Pet Day from HG & @diane_keaton 🖤🐾,” the company wrote in the caption. It’s evident that Keaton and Reggie shared a close bond.
Fans poured into the comments with their heartfelt tributes. “I just heard the news and am so shocked & sad. Sending my condolences and love to the Keaton family and friends. RIP Diane. Gone too soon,” one follower shared. Another chimed in, “I had just finished watching one of your films when I heard about it on the news. I don’t want to believe it…”
Keaton passed away at the age of 79 on Oct. 11. She is survived by her two children, daughter Dexter and son Duke. People confirmed the sad news with her spokesperson, “There are no further details available at this time, and her family has asked for privacy in this moment of great sadness.”
The late Oscar winner was often seen walking her pup through her Brentwood, California, neighborhood. She was given Reggie after a friend expressed concern that she was lonely as an empty nester.
“I didn’t even ask for her,” Keaton shared about her beloved Golden Retriever to AARP the Magazine in March 2023. “He came to me and said, ‘I think you need this dog.’ I was like, “OK, I guess?’ Of course, now I just love her. Dogs are irresistible. They’re just idiots. Reggie is a big jerk, and she’s a great jerk, and she’s hilarious.”
Keaton introduced Reggie to her Instagram fans in the most enthusiastic way in October 2020, “THIS IS MY NEW DOG, REGGIE!!! IS SHE HALF HORSE OR HALF DOG? MAYBE SHE’S INSANE! I LOVE HER!”
There’s no word on who Reggie will live with after Keaton’s passing, but Reggie is sure going to miss her sweet owner.
