One detail from Nancy Guthrie’s home security footage could give away the suspect’s identity as her disappearance enters day 10.
“I think [the suspect’s] gait is interesting,” former CIA member and FBI special agent Tracy Walder exclusively tells Page Six of the photos and videos that were released by authorities on Tuesday.
“While [their] walk is not overly distinctive, I do think that’s something the FBI could look at.”
The NewsNation contributor also noted how the suspect’s eyes were exposed despite wearing a mask, telling us, “I’m shocked [they] didn’t have some kind of night vision glasses to deter [their] eyes.”
Now that authorities have the suspect’s image, Walder told us that the FBI can “build a physical profile,” looking at everything from the “labels of the shoes” to “shoe size, gender, height and weight.”
The former FBI special agent also breaks down how the video proves the kidnapping was “highly planned.”
“This is a person who came with a backpack, came with a weapon. They aren’t there to steal anything. They would have bags to do that. [Nancy] was the target. This video really illustrates that,” Walder explains to Page Six.
“I think there is a difference between being experienced and this being planned. I don’t know if this is a professional kidnapper who has been working for decades. I don’t think this is some professional kidnapping ring. I do think this person had a target in mind. They planned to the best of their ability to do this.”
In addition to the suspect’s descriptive features, a second expert previously told Page Six a crucial mistake made by the suspect that could lead authorities to the abductor.
Longtime private investigator Andy Kay explained that the suspect ripping off the Nest doorbell footage actually helped authorities obtain the footage.
“The cameras will record to the servers as long as they have internet,” the Kay & Associates founder told us. “According to Nest, without a subscription, usually they are quickly overwritten by next images. But if the camera is disconnected, there should be nothing to overwrite on the server.”
Kay branded the suspected kidnapper a “rookie.”
On Tuesday, authorities released photos and videos of a masked individual wearing gloves and a backpack. In the video, the person could be seen fidgeting with the doorbell camera and turning around to grab foliage from the ground.
The suspect used it to conceal the camera before ripping it off.
“Over the last eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been working closely with our private sector partners to continue to recover any images or video footage from Nancy Guthrie’s home that may have been lost, corrupted or inaccessible due to a variety of factors — including the removal of recording devices was recovered from residual data located in backend systems,” a statement released to the press read.
“Working with our partners — as of this morning, law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance.”
Nancy’s daughter Savannah Guthrie posted the photos and videos to her Instagram with the caption, “Someone out there recognizes this person. We believe she is still out there. Bring her home. We believe she is still alive.”
Nancy was reported missing on Feb. 1 by a friend after she failed to show up to a viral church service.
Investigators believed she was kidnapped in her sleep and “harmed,” as a trail of blood, which authorities confirmed was hers, was found outside her front door.
A ransom note was sent to news organizations demanding the Guthrie family pay $6 million in bitcoin by the deadline of Monday, Feb. 9 at 5 p.m. MT.
After the deadline, a FBI spokesperson said in a statement that the Guthrie family has not had “any continued communication” with the abductor.
Authorities are now collecting DNA from hired workers, according to Fox News Digital.
