Bali Police Release Shocking New Details in the Igor Komarov Case and Issue International Arrest Warrants for 7 Suspects
Bali police have just announced additional key details in the high-profile case involving Ukrainian tourist Igor Komarov, while issuing international arrest warrants for seven suspects believed to be connected to the shocking kidnapping that has gripped public attention.
According to initial investigation findings, Igor Komarov was abducted on February 15 while riding a motorcycle in the Jimbaran area, Badung Regency, Bali. Eyewitness accounts and collected evidence indicate that the incident involved multiple perpetrators and various vehicles, carried out in a highly organized manner.
The group reportedly blocked Komarov’s path as he was traveling, then forced him into a car and took him away. The destination has been identified as a luxurious villa in the Tabanan area, located in the western central part of Bali island.
During a search of this location, authorities discovered numerous bloodstains. Subsequent forensic testing confirmed that the DNA traces matched those of Komarov. In addition, police recovered a mobile phone and a bag believed to belong to the victim. These pieces of evidence have led investigators to conclude that Komarov was held captive at the villa following his abduction.
In connection with the case, Indonesian police have identified seven suspects, including one foreigner identified by the initials CH and six others using the abbreviations RM, BK, AS, VN, SM, and DH.
Investigations reveal that CH was arrested in West Nusa Tenggara and is believed to be the individual who rented the vehicle involved in the kidnapping. This person used a fake Belgian passport when arranging the rental. However, authorities believe CH did not directly participate in subduing or restraining the victim.
The case continues to unfold with ongoing international cooperation to locate and apprehend the remaining fugitives.
Bali police have revealed that four of the suspects fled the island via Bali’s international airport, while the remaining individuals are believed to still be hiding somewhere in Indonesia. All suspects have now been added to Indonesia’s national wanted list, and authorities have requested Interpol to issue Red Notices for international coordination in tracking them down.
At the time of the incident, Komarov was vacationing in Bali with his girlfriend, Yesa Mishalova—a social media influencer with nearly 200,000 followers on Instagram.
Just one day before the kidnapping, the couple posted a joint photo for Valentine’s Day with the caption: “14 February, love you everyday.” Subsequently, Mishalova shared a short video of herself crying in front of the camera, accompanied by the message: “I will come back when I have enough strength.” Investigators suggest that these social media posts may have unintentionally exposed the couple’s location, although there is currently no concrete evidence confirming that the criminals tracked them through these platforms. Mishalova’s Instagram account has since stopped updating and has comments disabled.
According to some reports from Russia and Ukraine, Komarov is believed to be the son of Sergei Komarov, a notorious figure in criminal circles in Kramatorsk.
The case drew massive international attention after a video circulated online showing Komarov, covered in injuries, desperately begging his family to pay a $10 million ransom. On February 26, locals discovered multiple body parts floating near the mouth of the Wos River in the Ketewel beach area.
Senior Commissioner Ariasandy of Bali Police stated that forensic experts collected six biological samples from the remains, including a molar tooth, clavicle bone, thigh bone fragment, rib, toe bone, and a section of tibia.
Initially, investigators estimated an 80% likelihood that the parts belonged to Komarov. However, due to advanced decomposition, identification was challenging, necessitating DNA testing for confirmation.
The samples were subsequently sent to the police forensic laboratory in Jakarta for analysis. Results compared against DNA provided by the victim’s family showed a match with Komarov’s mother.
“Based on the DNA test results, the recovered body parts match the victim,” Commissioner Ariasandy confirmed.
This grim development underscores the brutality of the crime and the ongoing international hunt for the perpetrators involved in what appears to be a calculated, high-stakes operation gone fatally wrong.
