Viewers of David Muir have voiced their worries after his ABC program was interrupted for breaking news coverage last evening.

During Wednesday night’s broadcast of ABC World News Tonight with David Muir, the anchor covered a massive heist at a jewelry boutique involving approximately 25 individuals. The perpetrators made off with roughly $1 million in goods from Heller Jewelers at City Center Bishop Ranch in San Ramon, California, after employing crowbars and pick axes to smash through the jewelry cases.

David, 51, delivered the story to his audience following confirmation from the San Ramon Police Department that several of the culprits had been apprehended. Earlier in the week, David announced that Jimmy Kimmel’s program would resume on ABC Tuesday evening after being canceled the previous week. The news comes as David Muir halts ABC show to deliver brutal blow to ’embarrassing’ Donald Trump.

While David delivered the report, surveillance video of the group rushing into the establishment aired on screen with the journalist’s commentary playing over it. ABC posted a snippet of the report on Instagram, captioned: “Several suspects are in custody after a daring smash-and-grab robbery in San Ramon, California, authorities said. Police say surveillance video shows more than two dozen people, some armed with weapons, breaking into the jewelry store. @DavidMuirABC reports.”

The news left viewers horrified, prompting calls for an end to such crimes. “Crime is out of control,” one viewer remarked, while another insisted, “This has to be stopped.”

A third suggested, “Send in the National Guard!” This sentiment was echoed by others who also demanded the deployment of the National Guard in California.

Breaking into his broadcast to cover the heist yesterday, David told his audience, “Police say more than 20 masked suspects smashed their way into a jewelry store in San Ramon, California. The masked suspects, some of them armed, using tools to open those displays.

“Police say some of the jewelry has been recovered. Several suspects now in custody.”

Another person noted, “Jewelry stores are usually insured.” Some pointed fingers at California Governor Gavin Newsom, with one comment reading, “@gavinnewsom because he allows this. His concern for commerce and law abiding citizens is overwhelming.

“This just happened last month as well probably same group of people.. also probably people Newsome set free,” another viewer speculated. Another wondered, “I wonder if this is the same people that robbed that jewelry store in northern cali – where they reversed their car through the entrance!?

Police reported that the group raided Heller Jewelers on Monday afternoon, armed with at least three guns. ABC News stated that after invading the store and smashing displays, the robbers were trapped inside by automatic closing doors.

A gang member fired a shot to facilitate their escape before the robbers fled in six getaway cars parked in the mall’s valet area, some of which were reportedly stolen. San Ramon Police Department Lt. Mike Pistello told ABC7, “When they went in, they basically took over the store, taking whatever jewelry was available.” Since Monday, seven suspects, including one minor, have been apprehended. The police report that the suspects’ ages range from 17 to 31 and are suspected of being involved in similar robberies throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

Pistello stated, “This is not their first time doing something like this.”

This marks the second time in two years that Heller Jewelers has been the target of a large-scale heist. On St. Patrick’s Day in 2023, a group of seven masked men broke into the store and made off with $1.1 million worth of jewels.

According to local reports at the time, the culprits were later caught thanks to a GPS tracking device hidden in a stolen Rolex.
