In a somber ceremony attended by hundreds in the small English town of Faversham, the family of 21-year-old Eleisha “Precious” Skinner gathered to say their final goodbyes. The former Miss Faversham 2022, known for her radiant smile, kindness, and dreams of becoming a social worker, was remembered as a vibrant young woman whose life was tragically cut short in a devastating accident.
Eleisha, a university student at Buckinghamshire New University, died on January 8, 2026, just days after a horrifying incident outside her student accommodation in High Wycombe. While unloading her belongings from her parked car during icy weather conditions, the vehicle unexpectedly rolled backward, pinning her against a wall and crushing her. Despite managing to call emergency services and receiving swift help from housemates and paramedics, Eleisha suffered severe injuries, including an anoxic brain injury from compression asphyxia. She fought bravely in hospital but succumbed to her injuries.
At the funeral held at St Mary of Charity Church, her parents, Nigel and Clare Skinner, delivered an emotional tribute that left many in tears. “We are utterly devastated by the sudden loss of our precious girl,” they said, their voices breaking with grief. “Writing these words feels unimaginable, yet we want everyone to know how deeply loved she was. Eleisha’s love and light will never fade. She was full of energy, mischief, and joy—a presence that made everything brighter.” They expressed gratitude to medical staff for the compassionate care that allowed family and friends precious final moments with her.
Friends and community members echoed the sentiment, describing Eleisha as beautiful, selfless, and truly lovely. Her coffin was carried by horse-drawn carriage past her former school and through the town she adored, with over 200 mourners lining the streets in tribute. The pageant world and local community were stunned by the loss of someone so young and full of promise.
The accident, deemed unforeseeable and linked to treacherous winter conditions, has sparked reflection on everyday safety. What began as a routine move back to university turned into an unimaginable tragedy. Eleisha’s story serves as a stark reminder of how fragile life can be—one moment of routine, and everything changes forever.
As her family navigates their profound grief, they hold onto memories of a daughter who brought light to everyone around her. The nation and her hometown continue to mourn, asking why such a bright future was stolen so cruelly. Eleisha “Precious” Skinner will be remembered not just as a beauty queen, but as a beloved daughter, friend, and inspiration whose spirit endures in the hearts she touched.
