Friends and relatives of NASCAR legend Greg Biffle have begun receiving his family’s Christmas cards that were mailed shortly before a horrific plane crash killed him, his wife and kids, according to a heart-crushing post.
Biffle, his wife, their two children and three friends were all killed when their private jet crashed in North Carolina last Thursday.
Days later, the Biffle family’s holiday cards began hitting loved ones’ mailboxes.
“I received this in the mail today. My words can’t say enough about the family,” Ron Herbert, a longtime friend of the NASCAR great, wrote on Instagram.
Herbert shared a snapshot of the card, which showed Biffle beaming beside his wife, Cristina, their 14-year-old daughter Emma, and their 5-year-old son Ryder.
They all wore matching outfits — jeans and a white T-shirt — while posing in front of a white Christmas garland.
The message below the photo read: “We hope that you are able to slow down and enjoy the magic and joy that this season has to offer. We hope you have a great New Year! Sending love, Greg, Cristina, Emma & Ryder.”
Many took to the comments to mourn and offer comfort to Biffle’s loved ones.
“It’s like they knew close friends and family would need one last warm hug from them. Love and all the support in the world to all those navigating the holidays without those beautiful faces!” one user wrote.
“A message to cherish. Praying for each family member and friend who have lost so much. Thank you for sharing,” another added.
All four family members were killed when their private plane, a Cessna C550 jet, exploded while they were attempting to land at the Statesville Regional Airport.
The plane was in the air for a short seven minutes before it burst into flames just short of the runway.
Cristina had texted her mom, Cathy Grossu, “We’re in trouble” just before the crash, People magazine reported.
The other victims were identified as Dennis Dutton, Dutton’s son, Jack, and Biffle’s friend, Craig Wadsworth.
The seven were headed to Florida for a birthday trip, according to family members. Biffle would have turned 56 on Tuesday.
The National Transportation Safety Board is still investigating the crash.
