A woman who was killed alongside her two kids by her husband in an apparent murder-suicide is believed to have been a “willing participant,” according to authorities.

Christopher Duong was found dead alongside his wife, Janet Nguyen, and their two sons in their Prince Rupert, B.C., Canada home in June 2023, per the CBC, Global News and the Williams Lake Tribune, citing authorities.

A coroner’s inquest found that the two boys died of asphyxia, the CBC reported.

The Tribune reported that police believe Duong killed the two boys.

He is then believed to have used an electrical cord to strangle Nguyen, but there was no sign of a struggle between the two, according to Global News.

The family members were all found dead in the same bed and the boys each had teddy bears at their feet, per the outlet.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police Corporal Matthew Blumberg testified that Nguyen was believed to have been “a willing participant,” per the CBC and Tribune.

The CBC further reported that Duong was previously known to law enforcement, believed to have been connected to drug trafficking in the area. A year before his death, Duong suffered a traumatic brain injury, the outlet reported.

Days before he was found dead alongside his family, Duong believed a “hit” had been put out on him and that his family was potentially going to be targeted, the CBC reported, citing authorities.

Investigators also found that Duong and Nguyen had recorded a “last will and testament,” Blumberg said, per the CBC and Global News.
