Meghan Markle shared that she gives herself βgraceβ to make mistakes while getting candid about perfection and public scrutiny.
While discussing what sheβs learned from her mishapsΒ during an interview with Harperβs BazaarΒ published Wednesday, the βSuitsβ alum said, βYou learn not to do it again.β
βIf it all goes swimmingly, you donβt learn from it,β she explained. βIf you donβt learn anything, youβre not going to grow.β
Markle, 44, gave an example using her and Prince Harryβs two children β Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4 β stating that they are βat the age where they are constantly learning something new.β
βI watch them face things that feel completely insurmountable every day,β the Duchess of Sussex said. βBut you can remember and say, βI know it seems really hard right now, but trust me, thatβs going to come so easily soon.β I can give myself the same grace as a founder.β
βThereβs no such thing as perfect. I, too, get to make mistakes,β she continued.
Markle joked that where wasnβt βa lot of fun in trying to be perfect,β adding, βSo why try to do that if you want to have fun?β
The As Ever founder further detailed her desire to split her time between being in the public eye and spending quality time at home with her family.
βI love being able to do both,β she said. βI think the moment that you start making all of your personal decisions based on external judgment, then you lose your authenticity.β
The actress also shared how her βboundaries became strongerβ and she found βdifferent ways to protectβ herself when she βcame into the public eye.β
βWhether thatβs self-preservation or itβs just growing up,β Markle said.
The βWith Love, Meghanβ star also gushed over how Harry shields her from negative attention and βhas [her] back.β
βHe loves me so boldly, fully, and he also has a different perspective because he sees media that I wouldnβt,β she stated. βNo one in the world loves me more than him.β
Markle, who started her career as an actress in the early 2000s, has received more media attention since she and Harry, whoΒ tied the knotΒ in 2018,Β resigned from their royal dutiesΒ in 2021 and fled to Montecito, Calif.
The couple has been estranged from the royal family ever since,Β airing their dirty laundry with themΒ numerous times following their exit.
However, Harry has seemingly been attempting to make amends with his family afterΒ reuniting with his father, King Charles III, in September.
