Jenna Bush Hager is still reeling over Michelle Obama’s kind words to her.

On the Nov. 4 episode of TODAY With Jenna & Friends, Obama told Jenna that she was “proud” of her, which caused Jenna to get emotional on air.

Two days later, when asked what she thought of the compliment, Jenna told TODAY.com that it meant the world to her.

“She said she was proud of me, which was so sweet. I couldn’t believe it,” Jenna, who is the daughter of former U.S president George W. Bush, said. “We never really get to hear how we impacted people. When she said that and also said that she was proud of Barbara, I couldn’t help but tear up.”

“I couldn’t help it. She’s a former First Lady saying she’s proud of you. It was an out-of-body situation,” she added.

On the show, Obama remembered a kind gesture from Jenna and her twin sister, Barbara Bush, during the transition from George Bush’s presidency to Barack Obama’s. Jenna, Barbara and their mother, Laura Bush, took Michelle Obama and her daughters, Sasha and Malia, on a tour of the White House.

“I always talk about that moment, how gracious it was for you, Barbara and your mom to take the time out to help the girls feel like it was going to be a home,” Obama said. “You really made them feel loved and seen.”

Obama’s kind words made Jenna tear up, which made Obama feel like crying, too.

“You’re going to make me cry,” the “Becoming” author said.

Later in the conversation, Obama paid Jenna another compliment and said she likes that Jenna and her sister are “gracious women” who show up “right every day.”

“Thank you so, so much Mrs. Obama. You know I cry at a drop,” Jenna said. “That’s the loveliest for you to share that with me.”
