It’s turning out to be a war of the Windsors.

After Prince Andrew was stripped of his royal titles earlier this week, new details about the bombshell decision are emerging.

Although it was ultimately King Charles’ choice to take action against his brother — who will now go by Andrew Mountbatten Windsor — the monarch is said to have been supported by the rest of the royal family.

A source close to the royals told People that they “sensed a female touch” in the Palace’s official statement, released on Thursday.

That led to speculation that Queen Camilla and Princess Kate had a hand in the decision to strip Andrew of his honors.

“His Majesty has today initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew,” the letter from Buckingham Palace read. “Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. His lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence.”

“Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation. These censures are deemed necessary, even though he continues to deny the allegations against him,” the statement continued.

“Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.”

The last part of the message referenced sexual misconduct allegations against Andrew. Despite repeatedly denying the claims, he has been accused of having sex with an underage Virginia Giuffre while she was being trafficked by the convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

“I would think the Queen had a hand in that,” the source told People of the concluding paragraph of the statement. “There would have been a push from Camilla and Catherine, and there was pressure from William, who would not want to inherit the headache.”

“It was quite strong, and I was quite proud when I heard it,” they added.

Queen Camilla has been a staunch supporter of organizations helping victims of domestic abuse, assault, and rape.

The family is “definitely looking to the future,” the source continued to People. “This could all be part of that. William and Catherine are moving soon, and all their comments have been about looking to the future.”

Despite King Charles and Andrew allegedly not being close, the source said: “[Andrew] is his brother, and he will feel some care and affection and concern for him. But he wouldn’t have wanted to make that decision. He would rather Andrew dealt with it.”

A separate source told People that Charles was “exasperated” with Andrew’s minimizing of the allegations against him.

“Andrew had been given so many chances and opportunities to do the right thing, and he would be exasperated that he had to make a difficult decision rather than Andrew dealing with it. He would find it quite painful.”

There has been renewed pressure on the royals to take action against Andrew in recent months, following fresh allegations that the disgraced ex royal maintained ties with Epstein years after he claimed to have severed communication.

Andrew’s previous statement, where he announced he was giving up his Duke of York title and honors, did not mention the victims or survivors.

Sarah Ferguson, Andrew’s ex-wife and the mother of his two children, will also move out of Royal Lodge, where she had been living despite the couple being divorced since 1996.Andrew did not object to the King’s decision, and the British government also supports the move, per BBC News.

Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice will retain their titles.
