As you might expect, the always-unfilteredMiriam Margolyes had a few things to say about the new Harry Potter TV series that’s currently in the works.

Earlier this year, production got underway on a new TV adaptation of the Harry Potter books, with one season being dedicated to each of the seven novels in the series.

Many Harry Potter fans best know Miriam for her work as Hogwarts’ herbology professor Pomona Sprout in several of the Wizarding World movies, which she’s shared mixed opinions about over the years.

During a recent appearance on Capital Breakfast, host Jordan North asked the Bafta winner about her comment last year that adult fans of Harry Potter “should be over that by now”, admitting: “I’m one of those people!”

“Well, you have to widen to include other books, as well,” she offered, pointing out that while Harry Potter “wasn’t part of my childhood”, it was “part of my bank balance”.

Jordan then asked the former Call The Midwife star if she’d been invited to be in the new Harry Potter series, to which she responded: “No, and I wouldn’t have accepted.”

“I don’t see why they need to make another one, I thought it was perfectly good as it was,” she continued.

“But I suppose it’s the endless search for money. And they don’t need it! The people who were the producers, they made a fortune.”

Miriam isn’t the only one who’s voiced this opinion about the new Harry Potter series, though.

Director Chris Columbus – who helmed the first two Harry Potter movies – previously shared that he struggled to see the point of the new series, particularly after leaked pictures from set suggested it was going to look a lot like the original films.

The project has also been met with controversy due to the involvement of JK Rowling, who has become a hugely polarising figure in recent years due to her continued commentary about issues relating to transgender people.
