The This Morning presenter joined those paying their respects to her fellow Birmingham native

Alison Hammond has revealed she ‘feels bad’ after missing a text about Ozzy Osbourne weeks before his death.

The music world was left stunned on Tuesday evening (July 22) when the Black Sabbath icon’s passing was announced by his family.

A statement read: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.

“He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”

Two weeks before his death, Ozzy played one final show with Black Sabbath in a Birmingham homecoming gig at Villa Park on July 6.

Prior to belting out his bands biggest hits, Ozzy performed a solo set from a black throne, admitting to fans he had ‘been laid up for, like, six years’.

It proved to be a star-studded occasion, with Metallica, The Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan, Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello and Aquaman star Jason Momoa all in attendance.

One person who could have been at the show was Alison Hammond, who revealed on This Morning she missed a text from Ozzy’s son Jack Osbourne offering her tickets.

“It’s so sad. I had a message from Jack saying ‘come to the concert’. I didn’t see the message. He said ‘my mum wants to extend an invitation’. I didn’t see the message.

“Literally, I looked at it today and I missed it. I feel so bad because I could have got to see him. I was so saddened. I did watch the concert and I thought he was unbelievable,” she said.

Joined by her co-presenter Dermot O’Leary, the former X Factor presenter recalled going to the Osbournes home to film the singing competition.

“I met him a few times, I was very lucky. We did Judges’ Houses a few times at the Osbournes house. Quite often when we’re doing X Factor you go to a nice hotel. Simon’s house and Sharon’s house, we literally went to their house.

“Sharon’s house was amazing because they moved a lot of the time, you’d always go to a different house. You’d be brought into this brilliant scene of domesticity. They were love birds, literally like two doves with each other. It was so sweet to see.

“As soon as you walked into that house, you walked into a home, a family full of love. It was everything from the pictures. It was lived in,” he said.
