Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes are ready to start taking reservations!

The highly anticipated culinary debut from the two NFL superstars finally has an opening date. The Instagram account for their Kansas City-based steakhouse, 1587 Prime, announced the doors will officially open on Wednesday, Sept. 17, the same day as Mahomes’ 30th birthday.

The restaurant will open two weeks after the NFL 2025-2026 season kicks off on Thursday, Sept. 4. The Dallas Cowboys will play the Philadelphia Eagles that day, and the following day, Kelce and Mahomes’ team, the Kansas City Chiefs, will face off against the Los Angeles Chargers.

“Precision in every detail. Power in every bite,” the Instagram announcement read. “Beginning Wednesday, August 20, at 12 pm CST, you can reserve your table for opening night and beyond. Be among the first to experience Kansas City’s newest steakhouse.”

In the video announcement, Kelce, 35, and Mahomes are taste testing items for the menu, with Mahomes saying, “We wanted to bring something special for the city of Kansas City.”

Kelce added, “What’s better than to break food with people over good food, good drinks and a cool vibe?”

As their pair continued to eat next to one another, Mahomes is heard saying in a voiceover, “Kansas City loves food. The city’s gonna love it.”

In celebration of the announcement, both NFL stars commented on the post. “Let’s go KC!!! 🔥🔥,” Kelce wrote. While Mahomes added, “30th Birthday Party?!?! 🎉🥳.”

The new restaurant is located in the Loews Kansas City Hotel. It will feature “multi-sensory dining aspects” as well as “subtle nods” to the players themselves — including the name, “1587,” which is a combination of their jersey numbers.

1587 Prime will have two floors and take up 10,000 square feet of space, touting several private dining rooms and a “jaw-dropping” display of meat, naturally.

Buzz about the new restaurant originally began in March 2024 and was slated to open “early 2025,” though there have not been updates on an official date until now.

The following month, Kelce confirmed to PEOPLE exclusively that the venture is an “unbelievable opportunity,” and he and Mahomes were aiming for a 2025 “grand opening.”

“[It’s] just another thing that we want to bring to Kansas City, to be able to show our appreciation for the city, knowing how much they love their food and how much they love their football,” Kelce said.

“Travis and I have become frequent visitors of Noble 33 restaurants in other cities, so it only made sense to bring something special to our own community in Kansas City,” Mahomes said in a company release.

Since then, the two athletes have sparingly shared information about the restaurant. But in late July, they posted an Instagram video of their taste test. The tasting menu included a variety of butters (white truffle, chiles toreados, bone marrow, garlic and hibiscus) as well as condiments like truffle soy and chimichurri.

The clip also showcases a snippet of the expected menu, which lists wagyu beef, a chop salad, togarashi fried chicken, shrimp sautéed in Diablo sauce and chipotle peppers and a smash burger made with Japanese A5 wagyu beef. The menu also includes a steak flight experience that offers a sampling of a wagyu filet, a Black Angus ribeye and a Japanese New York strip steak.
